Re: Where do You draw the line??
I'm not at our limit, but since I'm renting, I only have the two remaining tubs in the rack....unless I can find an inexpensive source for BUILDING racks. I can hammer nails, but can't saw straight to save my life (I make AWESOME bevels! :rolleye2: ) and I don't own the nec. tools.

IF we can get into a house in the next few months, then the sky is the limit....oh, that & how much I can scrape together for the purchase. Feeding / bedding / vet costs aren't a problem; that's budgeted for....it's the $$ for BUYING the little boogers....my next purchases are going to be the hets, and or the morphs, so I'm planning for bigger bucks.

Plans are to be breeding balls and RTBs, but I'll start w/the normals first. Hera is juuuuuust right, but I didn't have a male this year. Hopefully Wrigley will do the job next season. My het albino RTB is doing nicely, but no GF for him yet......he alone needs another 18-24 months. As for the balls, this would have been the season, but I've got 3 beautiful MALES, and no girls, so......... *sigh*

My goal is axanthics, pieds and albino balls, and then albino boas and eventually proving out our possible het for T+ albino boa. Here's what we have currently:

1.0 100% het albino RTB Petey
    1.0 normal RTB Wrigley
    0.1 normal RTB Hera
    0.1 Pastel RTB Pinky T
1.0 Poss T+ het Apollo (He IS Hypo pastel, poss DH ghost)

3.0 Normal Balls: Zeus, Freddie, Precious

    1.0 Stimson's python Felix
    0.1 Albino Nelson's milksnake CeCe
    0.1 Anery Kenyan SB Oreo
0.1 Amel corn (Robin's pet) Kishnah
    1.0 Snow corn Flurry
    0.1 Leucy Texas Ratsnake Crystal

1.3 Horses: 2 paints (Cody, Roxie), Arab (Chyp), AQHA (Duchess)

3.4 Cats: Checkers, Riley, Norman, Candy, Pesky, Mohawk and Keera

6.0 rats: Scabbers, Stewie, Robin Hood, Butterscotch, Smoo, Smee (two still waiting to be something other than batchelors)

0.7 rats: Peekaboo, Snow, Peachy, Squeeky, Monkey, Creamy, Beauty (mommies or mommies-to-be)

0.8 rats: Raven, Dumbelina, Fluff, Spot, Stripe, Patches, Thing 1, Thing 2 (still too small or waiting to be bred next)

Robin is mating Smoo and Beauty as a science project, and then we'll use the babies for either breeders (if in a house by then) or as food.

We won't be getting another dog to fill Tundra's passing, until after we get a house and land for a large enough kennel and running/yelling room.

Re: Where do You draw the line??
I think everyone can reach a point where space, time, and money become issues with their collection of animals.

For me, time is the issue. I want to be able to devote a certain amount of time to each animal, and the more animals that I have.....I have less time to devote to each animal and enjoy what I actually own. I am actually considering selling a few snakes because I feel like I don't get 'quality time' anymore (although I am very content with the variety and size of my collection).

I would also like to set up a mid sized saltwater tank (65-90 gallons) over the next year or so.......so that will definately be more time that I need to care for animals. After that, I will only be looking out for stuff on my 'must have' list that has never been available to me before. Anything thing other than that, I will have to produce myself or trade/sell animals.

    Current collection is:

    2.2 Ball Pythons
    1.1 Brazilian Rainbow Boas
    1.1 Children's Pythons
    1.1 Coastal Carpet Pythons
1.0 Columbian x Hogg Island Boa
    0.2 Leopard Geckos
    1.0 Veiled Chameleon
    1.2 Storr's Monitors
    0.1 Dog
    0.1 Cat
    12.5 gallon saltwater tank

I forgot to mention my two best animal friends. I think you forget their animals sometimes and more part of the family.

Re: Where do You draw the line??
oh and your other question was... where do you draw the line? well... i don't think we have one.

we have decided no more fish tanks... as there isn't any more room for more. i don't want any more cats... we only took these last three kittens as rescues and didn't really want them to begin with... but i couldn't turn my back on them.

and i think i'm done adding tarantulas at this point although i still really want an a. geroldi so if i can get one of those sometime... i'll jump at the chance!

i have a friend who has a good line... she says, now, whenever she wants to get something new she has to rehome something first. and it really helps her to keep her pet-desire in check. cause she may reaaaaaaaally want that new tarantula, frog, spider etc but then she realizes she doesn't like it enough to get rid of anything she currently has. so it's working for her at this point.

    ;)

The classic horse-breed owner/lover disparity! I can remember when most H/J TB jumpers would scoff at "western" QHs with their heads on the ground.. now I think it's nice that many riders can be found doing dressage one day, and WP the next.. great things.

I thought I'd be a little specific with my breeding plan's. I'm going to list what I plan to keep for myself.
    0.1 pastel
    0.1 Albino
    0.1 yellowbelly
    0.0 pied I'd prefer female.
    0.0 ivory
    0.0 super pastel
    0.0 bumblebee
    1.0 Spider
Hoping to trade for an orange ghost in the future maybe a mojave or lesser. This would put me in the low twenty's without keeping any of the sib's which we all know is going to be difficult to find a home's for. I'll prepare there is plenty of time.
