I think he answered the cage size in this post he made earlier.

I don't understand their emphasis on "fitting" snakes into small cages.. this should not be a priority for a snake keeper. If you can't fit a large enough cage in your house, with room for the snake to breathe and move around, then buy a bigger house or something.

I refuse to own the giants simply because there is not enough room in my house to give them adequate space. How sad!! :(

Wow...a 20' snake in an 8'x3'x16" cage? Thats just plain disgusting. In my own personal opinion, you should not be allowed to own ANY snake if thats your idea of providing the best possible captive environment for the animal. It sickens me to see such magnificent animals kept in such deplorable conditions.

(and before anyone accuses me of being a PETA member or a tree hugging hippy....just re-examine the context of this situation. You'll understand.)

I wish I knew more about the giants once they reach those kinds of lengths... she looks overfed and miserable, but I don't have any pics or info to compare to.

I wish someone who owns these giants in real life would chip in here. I know that 20+ feet and over 200 pounds are not rare for these snakes, hence I cannot say for sure if that python is obese or not. As far as housing goes, all I know is what I have read in the caresheets: At least half the length of the snake(and that is the minimum), and if you had to choose between height vs width, go with the extra width. Even though my first inclination is to voice my shock at seeing a giant snake stuffed in a box, I'd leave final judgement/assessment in the hands of those who have hands on experience and the reputation to go with it.

I have read the same, at least half the length long. On the other hand I have also heard 1 sq. foot per foot length of snake. So he has the 2nd, but I still say for a snake that girthy that a larger enclosure is in order.

Maybe rex can chime in here. Isn't Homer only like 9 or 10 feet right now in the same size enclosure?

Ben, how about yours? Isn't your lavender albino female in the 17 foot range? What is a weight on yours and what does it eat?

here's something "constructive" for you bud. thats one of the sickest most cruel situations ive ever seen a living animal have to survive in. that snake is grossly obese and is in dier need of a larger cage. i dont care how small of a couch you think you can fit a giant, 20 foot, 200+ pound snake in, that thing can barely move in there.

who here can honestly say that snake doesnt look like it has been over fed, is in in too small of a cage, and is obese to a point that some would consider abuse?

hope i didnt offend you. please :cens0r: :taz: :colbert2: :angered: :disbelief :frustrate

I believe this is a case of "My snake is bigger then yours!" Seriously can't you see that snake is beyond obese? You need to find that snake a better home and reconsider your care for any sort of animal. This is just gross what this animal has become and needs proper care from an owner who wants to keep the animal so it can live in healthy conditions.
