Tell him that two pet rats are no more work, no more smell or cost really than one. A bored single rat may chew stuff up from nervous energy and stress, a single rat can become nippy and demanding or become depressed. In other words a single rat's a lot more work and hassle than two. They pretty much keep each other company and if you are busy and can't play with them...they have each other. :)

Congrats on the new pet! One of the reasons I can't feed live is that I get attached to animals quickly. IE the stray cat I just took in, have nursed back to health and what not. Now that's 5 cats and 2 snakes. If I started to keep rats I think I would give my father a heart attack.

I have never kept a rat, but I've had friends who have kept them for years. So cute :D .

It's great that you found a friendly rat! I am sure you know this, but just make sure to wash your hands well between rat and snake handling! Or you might get mistaken for a meal.. :)

I say break its neck and dump it in the freezer! :)

Why would you say that? She obviously is taken by the little critter, and for many of us, our pet rats take on a different status than feeders; kind of like, if you ate burgers but had a pet beef cow that you didn't want to slaughter.. similar to that.

Okay the pictures that I promised:D I know I know.....this enclosure won't last to long, but I just had to have it for her! She absolutely is having a blast going up and down the tube LOL

Just so no one freaks, yes I know Billie is checking out Snow! Billie is not allowed in our room unless we are in here and once she got her look she went on her way. Much better things to play with now that the Christmas Tree is up:eek:

That would be totally awesome. I will definitely ask. It would be nice to get some use out of this enclosure! I just love that it is sooooo colorful and the tube. Thanks:D

fair warning, i had a similar cage for my pet rat (years and years ago). lets just say i went through alot of duct tape. i never knew to get her a friend (it was hard enough to get my mom to say yes to her) and every night she got out and climed on the bed wanting to play. how ever she makes it look so fun, now i want a big tube! lol. they love tp tubes to play with and chew on and they love those big balls you put them in and let them roll around on the floor. just giving you some ideas you know it is christmas.:gj: rats are smart sweet lil critters, and i wish you years of fun with her. btw she is a pretty little girl.:mouse2:

Thank you very much! She actually has not tried to get out but last night I had to move her into my walk in closet because as soon as the lights went out she was zooming up and down that tube!!! It was actually really hillarious to listen to but had to get up early for work!
