Just to point out, Chris Johnson of TSE had the same guarantee when he was selling "hets"..... I don't know anything about this breeder, she may be perfectly legitimate, but a guarantee on a webpage doesn't really amount to much these days. Your reputation as an honest breeder does.

You definitely have to trust your breeder, and their reputation. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from several of our newer breeders (those in their 1st, 2nd or 3rd year of breeding), because I know them, I've seen their collection (from pictures they've shared with the forum), and I've seen their participation and level of advice here.

I personally cringe any time I see the word "cheap" mentioned about anything having to do with ball pythons. Nothing about keeping ball pythons should be cheap, nor fast. That gives off the impression that you want a "cheap" way to make a fast buck (this is a generalized "you", not a specific "you"), and I'm not likely to consider what you produce when I'm adding to my collection, because who knows what else you've done "cheap" in your care of your collection.

Rock on! Must spread the rep around, but you deserve it for this one!

Lets try to eliminate the word cheap altogether when it comes to living creatures. It just comes off poorly no matter one tries to justify its use.

Re: 100% Het Albino Female PLEASE!!
Thanks for all of the talk and the advice. I completely agree that people shouldnt look for the cheapest deal but i was just wondering if anyone knew a breeder with a good rep AND sold at a low price. If I find a breeder selling 06 hatchlings at $600 and they have an awesome rep, but i also find a breeder selling 06's at $400 AND people give him/her a good reputation, im not going to go with the first breeder just because he probably has better quality. Hets are hets and i was only asking if people knew a trustworthy breeder who doesnt over price their bp's. Thanks for all the advice again.

I never said that you did. I was simply referring to her guarantee, and pointing out that TSE had the same guarantee. In NO way, am I inferring that hers are not hets, just that you have to have 100% trust in your breeder.

The "cheap" commentary was about other posts in the same thread.

That line of thinking doesn't make sense to me. You're not going to choose better quality over lower price? Maybe it's just me, I want the BEST quality animals that I can get, and I'm willing to pay a little more for it. After all, in the end, your own reputation is riding on the quality of YOUR animals. :)

    That's market price for one.

Everyone has a different "market price" ... if you catch a "breeder" (and I use that term loosely) that has a tax bill looming, you'll find that their "market price" is even lower.

I think that $400 is incredibly cheap for a female 100% het albino, for one reason ... YOU NEED THEM TO MAKE ALBINOS!!! ... I sold 100% het albino females this year for a lot more than that and every single one sold before they were even hatched .... If people don't like my prices, cool, don't buy them ... LOL ... I would rather keep them all and make albinos than sell them on the cheap ... but hey, that's just me ... I'm nuts about ball python mutations!!!! :rolleye2:

True Robin, and I agree with your thoughts on this one. but we don't know what Chase is doing in the long run. Is he buying hets in order to produce a snake he cannot afford right now so he can produce it in a few years? Sure! there's absolutly nothing wrong with that. I've done it myself. I think a majority of people here have done that.

But does Chase have intentions on starting a business? We don't know. and right now i'm sure it doesn't even matter. For those people want a nice albino without intentions on putting their offspring back on the market, then "the best deal" is probably what will suite this particular instance.

make sense what i'm rambling about? I know i basically contradict my original post, but i'm trying to think about what's going through his mind as well...just trying to play both sides is all.
