Re: Personality Linked to Morphs
What an interesting and enlightening thread!
It also reinforces my new plans of a mojave Morticia instead of my original plans for an axanthic. ;) There's a few reasons, but a nice personality is certainly a perk!

5 Neo my Albino is fearless he doesn't mess with me but he isn't scared.
6 Trinity my het-albino is nice but she'll hiss like crazy when I take her out.
7 Link my het-pied is still a little nippy it's going away though.
8 Charlotte is my Spider she's a sweetheart.

I've only had my grantie male for a week but you can tell that he's gonna be a grumpy snake!! Struck at me as soon as he was set up in his tub....I'm giving him another 3 or so days and I'll take him out and see how he is!!

Re: Personality Linked to Morphs
so now that i have my pied and the het. pied, and know a little more about them i'll add to the thread what i think.
Normal male- coolest snake, loves everybody, never hissed or struck
pied- finicky eater (she bites and constricts great, but if you watch her eat she'll drop the rat)
het. pied- only have taken him out once, cool personality, very cocky, but hasnt eaten yet (i'm trying again tomarrow)

I have a het albino male and possible het albino female... they'll both take a finger off if your not careful! :O

Re: Personality Linked to Morphs
I have to say, that I haven't really had any real pissy animals...The het 4 pied I have has hissed onced or twice and my big girl has hissed a couple times when I first got her...but she wasn't held very much by the person who had her before me. Other than that I've been pretty blessed with rather docile and extremely tame ball pythons... I've been bit by only 1 ball python and that was a tiny tiny hatchling that i had bought as my first ball python and it was MY FAULT...I didn't give it a full week to acclimate and the poor thing was just scared...
( I didnt know about the acclimation period at that time... The guy I bought it from didn't give me any kind of information or anything...I bought the barker's ball python book soon after back then)

Re: Personality Linked to Morphs
This is great. Its cool how ball pythons have such different personalities, all of my have distinctly different personalities. Its interesting to see these traits that seem to be common in certain morphs. Possible because they're mostly gentetically related??
Luna - Normale female - Shy, pretty laid back most of the time, used to be quite a scarty cat will revert back at times. She can also have her bad days, if for some reason she gets really scared or stressed, she may strike. She has never gotten me.
Big Female - (no name Normal) Big girl and so far big feeding response, I have to try and convince her its not feeding time everytime I open the lid. She hasn't struck yet, but she sure looks like shes wanted to.
Rill - Normal Female - Will hiss from time to time, only when your taking her out, does a lot of moving around and exploring when you take her out
Zesiro - 66% Het for Albino male - Best snake I've got, will eat anything, anytime, anywhere. Would only bite me if he thought I was food (hasn't mistaken me yet) Doesn't flinch much, very active when you take him out, not even very head shy. Awesome snake!
100% Het Albino female - Head shy, not sure too much of her personality yet, but shes a great eater. She had a bad shed, and after a good soak, she and I worked GREAT together helping her shed out, funny how much she knew I was there to help. Smart snake.

Re: Personality Linked to Morphs
Anybody have a Spider that is aggressive? Or a Mojave that has gone off feed randomly? Or a really nice feeding, tame Pied?

Re: Personality Linked to Morphs
I think spiders are the BEST eaters in my experience and yes one of my female spiders was a FREAK.Half the time she just wanted to eat anything including ME  lol.
They are ALL puppy dog tame now even the nasty one and very inquisitive.
I have a Mojave that is a pain in the ASS eater but a GREAT breeder.
Pastels I find are freaks and nasty when young but MOST hatchlings are.
Cinnys I find are GREAT eaters also.
I find Albinos are great eaters but are kind of shy.
ALL of my normal girls are eating MACHINES I find and just NEVER bite except one LOL.I have a 4500 gram female that is just the NASTIEST ball python I have EVER seen. She will bit and bite and bite till you put her down.I HATE cleaning her tub or taking her out  lol
