Meee toooo!!! And tuna rolls and tuna nigiri better than salmon. I can't do wasabi though - leave it out, thank you very much! I don't do spicy of any kind. Get even a hint of wasabi and I'm rubbing my tongue with my napkin - icky!

Re: sushi...
if it's good sushi... you don't need wasabi! cause the sushi has soooo much flavour on it's own ;)

Re: sushi...
aaagh. I'm going to have to make a run to the local Japanese restaurant here to get some killer sushi soon :( I love sushi.

Re: sushi...
Is sushi pretty expensive? I may try and find some sushi around here for dinner now

Re: sushi...
Sushi's pretty reasonable.
So, we need to do some recon NOW for Daytona this summer - someone needs to find the best sushi place around down there and all the sushi lovers can meet up for dinner! Yummmmm!

Re: sushi...
Saba (pickled mackeral) is good, but it needs to be quality and cut properly - and you sorta have to like pickled fish.
Masago (flying fish roe) is tasty. I used to get masago sushi on it's own, but I like it sprinkled on other things more now.
Ikura (salmon roe) when it's not too old is pretty good - I usually get it with a quail yoke. However, freshly made ikura (fresh caught salmon carrying eggs which are then pickled into ikura) - now THAT's heaven.
Uni (sea urchin) I used to love all the time, but now I'm spoiled and will only eat live uni, which has a fresher, brinier taste. The texture is even more delicate - nummy. Although my local sushi place does do a lovely uni tempura roll with regular uni that's quite nice.
You guys can keep ika (squid) and tako (octopus) sushi. Yech.
I only want salmon if it's wild caught; my current favorite is from Copper River, Alaska. I only want tuna if it's fresh blue fin; otherwise, meh.
I also really like kohada, which is some other Japanese pickled fish - nummers.
And I think you can judge a sushi place based on it's spicy tuna cut roll - how well they roll, the quality of the tuna scraps and what they use for spicy sauce. It's like diners and coffee - if a diner can't do good coffee, it won't be in business long.
My favorites, however, are hamachi (yellowtail tuna) and spicy scallop hand rolls - the latter I think is the world's most perfect food. =)

Re: sushi...
I should have avoided this thread. I love sushi and there are some great sushi bars around here, making me want to run out and get some lol.
