YAY Cue!! I am happy for ya. That looks like a nifty incubator; is that what you've used successfully in the past? I am havin' second thoughts about the one I have and may sell it and make one like that..

Excuse my ignorance, but why don't you leave the eggs with the mother? Is it too risky?

Congrats Cue! Don't know how I missed this thread! She's a lovely looking female and she certainly gave you a beautiful looking clutch. Such a long time to wait though isn't it.

Most breeders incubate the eggs, to allow the female to begin eating at the earliest possible chance. A female on eggs is fasting for another 2 months, when she could be gaining back the significant weight loss experienced after laying. It allows minimal stress on the female, while also providing more stable environment for the eggs. Although this information is from my research, as I be breeding for the first time this fall. :D

So how on earth do you pry the eggs from the mother? I am sure she isn't happy about it.

Like the wise tigerlily said. This gives mom a chance to get back to her normal life. As soon as I took the eggs away she drank for minutes!

    Thanks for the dance :D
