I asked this same question when i got mine and Adam gave me a counter argument to it which made perfect sense. feeding in the tank doesnt associate the hand going in (or tongs or whatever) with feeding. Besides i dont let my snake see me actually put it in there in case it was to mistaken accidentally my hand for the food (body heat and the smell of the mouse) I feed in the tank and have no problems picking him up

Yes, both my little tiny corn and my BP have feeding tanks that are used instead of their houses. I started doing that simply because I was told to, then after we had Dax (our BP) for about 2 months, I went into a pet store to pick up some crickets and they showed me their cute little baby corn snake, which they feed in its viv. Everytime something moved within its field of vision, it snapped. It thought everything was food, even people trying to pick it up.

it wasnt snappy because it was being fed in its viv.

if one could argue tey get aggressive when their viv is opened because of feeding in the viv one could argue just as easily that it will get aggressive when its tooken out because of being fed outside of the viv. its common sense.

I feed a lot of my snakes out of their enclosures primarily because I house some of them together (not a good idea, I now know). I think the reason that theory about them not associating being fed when you pick the snake up works because if you take your snake out to feed every week, then you are handling your snake at least once a week. If you just throw food in there and never handle it otherwise, then your snake isn't going to be as accustomed to being handled. Feeding time is really almost the only time that I handle mine, and since I take them out they all get handled once a week, and aren't nippy about it. Now, if you skip a week or two before you feed you've skipped two handling sessions and two meals, and I'm sure the snake will be a lot more eager to eat whatever warm thing gets close to it.

It's very hard to 'read' your threads and figure out what you are intending to say. If you not angry then don't use that smilie, or at least use a j/k or something. We're not mind readers. It would help if you slowed down a bit, and put a little more thought into your posts. I know it would be a well received effort.

i feed all of mine in their tubs, never had a problem with them confusing my hand for a rat? they definately know the difference between feeding day and the other days of the week. it is mostly preference for us keepers, imo. i don't think the snakes have a particular opinion on dining in or out:hungry:
