Not to get off topic, but does anyone get the emails from someone in an African Country, claiming to need your help to access funds?
Usually its some kind of claim that the money they have inherited/received is tied up somehow, and they need you to get in contact with their financial liason, and give them your acct info so they can transfer the money and you get a 10-15% cut of an amount in the tens-hundreds of thousands.. Obviously I never fall for this kind of crap, but there are some who might, and it seems it should be illegal....

Or am I the only one that gets these emails? Next one I get, Ill copy it on here :)

Those Nigerian scammers have been around for a while. I think most people have gotten one as some point in time. Check out www.snopes.com . One of my favorite sites for the real scoop on urban legends, internet scams, etc..

I urge everyone to reference this site before sending out one of those chain letters about the sick kid or the government planning to charge us for sending emails.

    Sorry to go off topic!

Wow! I'd LOOOOVE to know how to toast a CPU....even my ex who worked IT for a BIIIIIIIG electronics / computer company, and my sister who did IT for a SW company didn't know how to do THAAAAT.

:sigh2: Why does everyone else get to have all the fun??? ;)

But to answer the other question....yeah, the "Dr." from (pick a country) who needs the money to get his inheritance, :blahblah: :blahblah: (ad nauseum) they're VERY frequent (STILL!!) and will continue to happen as long as ppl are gullible and continue to send the money. The internet cafes overseas are so thick, that even when (IF) the authorities catch one of the scammers, there are oodles more to take his place.

One of the biggest tipoffs is the really crappy spelling and grammar. First thing our IT security taught us to look for. :D

Well when it comes to "frying CPUs" I really cant tell you how to do it. at least not on here. . . My husband actualy tought me how to do it. There is also another fun trick to pull... you can burn a message in to a computer screen while killing the CPU... My husband fryed my old computer and burned into the screen "I LOVE U" right after that I knew i was going to marry him :D

You have to use a Virus to fully kill the CPU caulsing it to over heat, same with the Burning of the screen. But that is all i will say :D
