Re: smallest boa?
RG,
I'd be especially careful to latch all along the edges. We had one clip on each long side, & once Oreo got bigger, she was able to lift and get underneath the lip enough to get out. The first time I found her she was inside some laundry I had been sorting on the floor. I found her as I was putting it into the washer (w/o water). Geeeeez!!!! That was a close one!
The next time she had escaped Robin found her in my closet, across the room from her tank. My bedroom isn't very large at all, but for her to slithered that far, and w/o the cats getting her, was VERY lucky indeed..and probably extremely tiring for her, since she didn't move much Robin picked her up. Now there are two clips on either long side of the lid, offset a bit to REALLY clamp the lid down.
I'm always finding her squeezed up under the lid like Play-Doh. I'm in the habit of looking underneath first, before opening the lid, because if I don't I knock her out and she falls. I don't imagine the light stunning (repeatedly) is very good for her. Now that I know where her hiding place is, I look before opening her tank.
BTW, I've gotten her shed a couple of times, but don't have a clue if she's pooing. How often should I change the aspen?
