Not in any of mine. Never heard that one before.

I hate to be Gary Grammar but wouldn't proportionately small heads mean that they were in proportion to the rest of the body? :)

The pins far exceeded my expectations this year! I never count on any animal breeding it's first year in my possession regardless of age ... I'm very laid back like that when it comes to breeding ... Most people that know me know how superstitious I am when it comes to details about my clutches, so ask me again in 60 days. ;)

I can respect that. I just know that young pins have not been known to do well thus far. I did not expect anything from mine, but I tried to no avail. I'll ask about it later. Congrats on him exceding your expectations.

    Thanks Again,

Does any young male really "do well"? Sure, some people have gotten lucky, but pin or not, no male in it's first winter is going to breed anywhere near as well as a male with 12 more months behind him. When I started 10 years ago, breeding a male at 750+ grams in it's second winter was the bare minimum for a reason ... Honestly, I'm surprised that any clutches are produced by people breeding these <500 gram animals, but I'm certainly not on the level of the professional breeders that are able to pull that off ... I'm just a guy with a bunch of cool snakes having the time of my life ... breed, don't breed ... doesn't matter. ;) :D

Don't worry about your pin ... he'll be a 100% healthy breeding machine next year when producing pins is really going to count. ;)

    Great discussion!

I'm with you on that one Adam. I have gotten to the point that I don't expect males to breed until 16-18 months and females at 24-30 months of age, providing they have good weight. Fortunately I have a great paying job, and the snakes are just a great hobby for me. And, yes you are correct, my male pin is on track to be a magnificent breeder in 06/07.
