Re: Reputation Question...
Maybe we need to do a "sticky" explaining the reputation system. I also like the idea of multiple cubes for those with higher reputations. We should look into that.

I like that .... Unfortunately, my big mouth doesn't always come with answers ... nothing like stirring the pot and then having a blank look on my face afterwards ... LOL

Re: Reputation Question...
Really good point there Adam! I hate to admit my own eternal computer related doofusness (isn't that a cool word LOL) but I was here months and months before I even clued in to the significance of the little green cube since everyone had one I basically just ignored it. Also I didn't know quite how to give rep points but then I may have missed that in Introduction to Forums 101 (probably slept through the class yet again LOL).
I agree that multiple cubes might be a great idea if that's possible with this forum software (please don't explain software limitations to me though....I can't take the massive migraine I instantly get when anyone tries to explain the mysterious workings of anything computer related).

Under the subscribed threads you should see Lastest Reputation Recieved. Is that there?

PM me or something thanks
OK someone attempted to give me a negative point on this post.Could someone point out what is offensive or rude? I feel someone is playing games here and its not funny.I have contacted a moderator by pm and have asked that this be checked into.I understand the reasons for having the reputation points but giving them out for silly reasons either positive or negative is pointless.
Re: Reputation Question...
I wasn't going to but I feel the need to chime in here.
1. This forum is about BPs and herps in general.
2. It's free, like the best things in life.
3. It is hands down the most valuable BP information source I have found on the net. Trust me I look a lot.
What is the big deal about reputations. Let me tell you Adam, Smulkin, Sassy, April, and Matt all have awesome reputations in my book and there are several I didn't mention. I have never looked at their "Reputation". I have looked at their advice and wealth of information. That makes them "Grade A" in my book. I have had several people point out my mistakes and lack of knowledge in this forum. It has even made me angry a few times. I also recieved a negative "Reputation" point or what ever you want to call it. That really made me mad. I took a step back every single time and realized they were concerned that I learned. I then realized it was stupid to get mad over such a little thing when I had big lessons to learn. Big lessons that would help my animals live longer, stronger and healthier. You know what I did, I got over my little EGO and looked to the heart of the situation. I could have got mad and posted a stupid reply and left the forums. I didn't. I took thier advice to heart and learned from them. They know more than I do. You know what that has got me? Perfect sheds, regular feeding, animals with a good dispositon, and a wealth of knowledge. It would take me years to learn what they have taught me in a few short months.
In closing here are two things to consider.
1. My negative rep comment.
"Any animal you buy deserves proper equipment."
2. Lesson learned.
If you are going to buy animal, also take the time and money to make sure you care for that animal in the best way possible.
They didn't mean it as an attack on me, but to prioritize my way of thinking.
Re: Reputation Question...
Not trying to be rude but in this world your reputation means everything. If someone gives you a bad feed back then it stays with you forever. Now if someone gives you bad feedback for no true reason then this is not right. When i look to buy any reptile i research the person to the extreme. If thier is any negative feedback anywhere i read every word.I have found a few that recieved bad feedback for goofy reasons.Perfect example someone left this one person bad feedback because they would not hold the reptile until they got paid a month away:O .Or another one was the person wanted to pay with a personal check even when the sellar stated PAYPAL ONLY.Now these both are way out of line but it remains on thier feedback info.So your reputation is very important to some.
Re: Reputation Question...
all i can do now after reading this is check everyone's green boxes,,
It's kind of silly, but I never knew what they were there for before.
Now I know

That's actually not quite how it works here Joe ... you can get a bad point from someone and the next day get a good point and it will wipe the bad one out ... If you build up more good points than bad, then know one will even know that someone hit you with a negative point. It's a pretty well balanced system.
Trust me on this one ... my posting "style" so to speak gets me hammered with negative reputation points all the time because I call things like I see them and don't "sugar coat" anything ... for some reason it seems to offend people every now and then ... ... yet I still manage to do ok with my rep around here. ;)
Like I said earlier in this post ... don't sweat the negative rep points (at least on this site) ... say what's on your brain, help when you can, call someone out when you feel like you need to, and it will all work out. ;)
