Re: What is your source of heating?
6 days later and I still haven't got the temps perfect! Ugh! So here is my story. I have a glass 20 L with slide out screen lid. I had two ceramic heat emitters, one 60 w and one 100 w. I broke the 60 w which was ok because it wasn't really doing much for the cause anyways. So I bought a 150 w. SO I had a 100 w for the cool side and a 150 for the hot side. Well, 150 w was over kill. I should add I also have an uth under the warm side. SO right now I have the 100w over the warm side and covered up the rest of the lid with aluminum foil. We (my fiance and I ) turn the AC off and on in our room so temps fluctuate. Just when I think I have it right (83 on cool side, 92 on warm side give or take a degree) we turn the ac on/off. So then I have to fiddle with the rheatstat again! I know this is stressing out the snake too. Plus with ceramic, I am misting all the time. I have put way more money into this than I planned (which is ok, I love my little guy even if he's scared to death of me right now). I really can't afford any new things right now. Any suggestions other than "Go to this website and buy this new gadget that will make your life easy!" If I had that money right now, I would...believe me. Also, sorry for resurrecting a slightly old thread but I read....a lot. Why start a new thread???SO basically, I have 2 ceramic fixtures, a 100w and 150w bulb, a uth, a rheastat, and a household full of things (ie aluminum foil)..SO you macgyvers, DO YOUR THING AND HELP ME!!!

Thanks either way guys and girls!

insulate the glass on 3 sides and cover most of the top to keep the heat and humidity in, but you really need to get it in a room that doesnt change temps alot if your not going to get a thermostat. you will also want a digital humidity and temp gage.
