The concept of marriage has lost so much value that people go willy-nilly into it and realize they’re not good together, have tough divorces and some even see other people in the process.

There will always be people out there intending to take advantage of others. Even more are tempted when the system favors them. I live in Texas and let me tell you, it’s a damn cold day in hell when a man keeps his kids or house in divorce court here. It’s just wrong to generalize all women as money fiends and gold diggers like that.

I see what you're saying. The law of averages suggests there must be women out there who wouldn't do it as well as women who would do it. Same thing with men.

I'm not willing to risk it though. I feel if a woman truly loves me then a piece of paper and a piece of metal won't change that. To me the fact we love each other is worth more than getting married to attain other people's approval.

If two people were the last two people on Earth they wouldn't get married because there's no one else there to approve of it. I want my relationship to involve just me and my partner, not anyone else and not the court system.

That all being said, I think if two people like the idea of being married and cherish it then more power to them [emoji1476]

Incredibly ignorant? Sexist? Are we now allowed to be incredibly rude and disrespectful of other's views and call other members names now, admins? If so, I don't think this person would like my response very much. Otherwise, I won't allow myself to be trolled into another infraction by someone mouthing off behind the safety of their computer screen...

I am surprised that in 2018 people are still getting married though. That's some medieval ideology right there... then again so is the royal family [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Happily married for 20 years to my best friend. Just went to a 70th(!) wedding anniversary party for a lovely couple. Old married couplesfor the win!!

And yes it's true, choose wisely. The red flags are often ignored in courtship and chickens eventually come home to roost. ;)
