I don't notice dust putting the reptichip in though. I personally like it though, keeps humidity up, easy to spot clean, absorbs odors like you would not believe. I wouldn't say its "dust free". But greatly reduced over other substrates I've used. I really only notice "some" dust when I scoop it out of the bag. Our house stays fairly dry, with central heat/AC.
Once the substrate is in the tubs, that I maintain at a higher *but not wet* humidity, I do not notice any dust when disturbing it.
ReptiChip was dusty once I had it completely dried out. But not to a point where it became a problem. I noticed it most when scooping it up out of my bin, it made me cough a little and my arms were covered in fine dust. But again, once in the cages or tubs, the higher humidity kept it under control..
Reptile Prime is VERY light and fluffy, so sometimes the snakes just push it around rather then stay "on top" of it. But honestly, they did that with the ReptiChip, too, once it was dry..

My retic had a dirty face when the Prococo dried out too much, he had to shed to get rid of it. Now I never let it dry out completely, one of the reasons I check each tub every day. Seems like they feed better too if you are spot cleaning every day.

Yes it really is dust free. There are a lot of YouTube videos as well.

60% humidity in the cage should be a non-issue with ball pythons. While the humidity in their native habitats can fluctuate quite a bit, the humidity range regularly exceeds 70-80% so you are unlikely to have any issues with numbers greater than or equal to 60%.
That said, damp or wet substrate is a concern for the reasons listed above (bacteria, mold, etc.), but also for skin/scale infections. In most conventional setups, I would expect a large water dish and reptile prime to keep the humidity just fine unless your ambient is extremely low. The substrate will very slowly absorb moisture from the humid air.

I just ordered a bag to try. I have switched to paper towel as sub straight ever since getting a rack. I tried experimenting with reptichip, but like Zina said, the humidity spikes and I don't like that. It does however work very well in my glass tank. It spikes to 80% for a little but it quickly dries out. I have been recently thinking of trying aspen, but this tread made me more interested in the reptile prime.

Re: Reptile prime
I really do like using this bedding as my humidity levels are always good and they can burrow if they want.
I just opened one of the new zip lock bags....very nice to be able to reseal it for storage. I know they've had that style bag for a few months but like to keep at least 3-4 bags "in stock" just in case I get the urge to do a full bedding swap. Speaking of...how often do you guys do a full substrate swap?
Placing a 6 bag order today - as I'm setting up the new T10 and T12 that shipped yesterday!!!! I wish they had larger bags or discounts on shipping multiple bags.

Honestly, I haven't done an entire swap. But I'm very particular about cleaning up quick and thorough. I push all the dry and clean substrate into a corner, making sure to keep all soiled stuff apart. Then I scoop out the soiled substrate, finally wiping that area down with a paper towel that has been sprayed with F10, then wiping dry. After that I push the clean substrate back over the area and add more as needed :)
I check daily or twice daily for messes. I don't smell them in the room anymore, like I used to when I used paper towels or aspen.

Re: Reptile prime
Mine arrived two days ago and i just started filling in a couple of tubs. Jeez! the humidity percentage shot up to 97% with a very light misting. Although it has gradually come down over the past hour or so to 84%. The stuff really adds to the aesthetics of the enclosure as well. I like it so far. :D
