For me names are part of the fun.

If I could give names to all 649 Pokemon in the games (I DID catch them all, and had multiples, so bump that number to > 700), I feel like I can name a collection < 30 animals.

Of course...some of those names were like...Kitchen, Anvil, Oxy Clean, Belgium, Cake...but hey, at least they had names.

I have two ball pythons. V is my spider morph and my little pied is named Ickus. I love naming my animals. When I kept fish they even got names! What's the harm? :)

I have just one guy. I named him Argus, a greek hero who was said to have eyes on the back of his head. He is named such because of his two unique little spots on the back of his head. :)
