If it was used to feeding on mice already there really is no problem keeping it on mice. And I know rats can be hard to source reliably in Canada at times because they are prohibited.
I do, however, start them on half grown mice as even straight out of the egg they can deal with them at that size.

Thank you for being kind, and taking the time to explain things to me calmly. I have never had a pet that feeds on mice or rats, so I am quite new to this. To me, a hopper seems fairly big for my little Marshall, but I will look at different sizes of mice in the petstore next feeding.

Even if he becomes a mouser, that's OK, I'm prepared for that. He is the only snake I am going to have so it's not THAT big of a deal.
Thank you also for being nice. I would honestly love to feed him rats, but unfortunately it's not that easy.

Just for clarification, I was referencing food size, not mice vs. rats..:)

Is the legality an issue of live rats, whereas, frozen would be ok? There are a number of online distributors where you can order frozen mice/rats to be delivered to your house. Definitely makes sense to order enough to fill the box...I ordered a years worth of rats to make the flat shipping rate worth it.
Some BPs can be finicky when it comes to f/t prey. However, when I brought my little yellowbelly home, he was on live hoppers. I quickly switched to f/t rats, and he didn't think twice about it. He eats like a champ every week...he has never turned down a meal.

Yes I'm not sure about frozen ones. I agree rats are the better option, so I will have to ask my local petstore. If anyone has rats, it's them.

It never ceases to amaze me how a simple and lovely pic of one of our critters can turn into a long argument/discussion about husbandry..... and I don't mean that as a compliment. Gee......

You have a point, and I apologize for contributing to the off-topic discussion. However, OP was the first one to mentioned feeding, on page 2 :D
You DO have a very pretty snake gameonpython!!
