As for lack of proof, here are 2 lines of evidence that come to mind...

"For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world's creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable."—Romans 1:20, NWT

"For prophecy was at no time brought by man’s will, but men spoke from God as they were moved by Holy Spirit."—2 Peter 1:22, NWT

An examination of these 2 points (creation and Bible prophecy) provide all the proof one needs in order to have faith if they are looking for it. If, as we Christians believe, God is a loving and caring Father to us, it makes very little sense for him to expect us to blindly believe in him. Surely if a sinful human Father wants his children to know him and understand him, how much more so would a perfect Spiritual Father want his children to know him and understand him.

    so, creation and prophecy?

well, the problem with creation is that evolution by natural selection basically explains it all. if you want to, abiogenesis is much weaker, so you can say god put one living cell with the ability to reproduce itself and some DNA on this planet. evolutionary theory explains the rest from there, including us, including the fossil record and everything.

and bible prophecy... well, what is there to say about it. the evidence is missing. predictions early in the bible that come true later in the bible do not count, you have the same in the lord of the rings, where the first book makes predictions about the second book and the third book, which come true, and the second book predicts things that come true in the third book. but the lord of the rings is a work of fiction. so these predictions need to touch reality outside of the books.

there is no proof here, at least not now. you need to do better.

also i would like to note that the world would be much different if any religion would be true. what god would create 40000000000000000000000 suns, (4 x 10^22), with a larger number of planets orbiting them, and then care about one tribe of people at one specific time on a part of one of these planets? that God got to be bigger, and should not be limited to occasionally writing books and talking to people that are psychotic. as in, there is a failure in communication, when all this god published were the torah, the bible, and the quran, with a series of controversial messengers like moses, christ, muhammad, and going on to the book of mormon.

i mean, really, can you buy it when you are educated about science? with an universe so big, can you believe a holy book that tells you to kill homosexuals? and that eating lobsters or clams is an abomination, just like mixed frabrics in clothing are an abomination? thats the main problem: the bible crumbles when actually read, and it crumbles under scrutiny, and the same is true for all religious texts.

I had to remove myself from that FB group...I responded to a question after giving several other answers with the word "SERIOUSLY?". Then it devolved from there...someone had asked me what the numbers mean 1.1.1 etc etc after I had just explained it to the OP of that post.

LOL!! This thread reminds me of the good old days when I hung out on the Lost board on IMDB.....Original thread title: Why is Hurley still fat after 3 months on the island? Ten posts later: you are deep in a heated argument about the Bible being a fairy tale. Good stuff! :D

Jack is awesome he does so much work on the island it's crazy! But Sawyer...he's just...so Hot. I love everything about that man lol. This is such a crazy thread. Originally started with a rant about bad pet owners, then went off into religion, kinda went back to the original topic, now were on Lost haha.

Yup, good stuff!! I was on a rabbit message board site when I was looking into getting a Flemish Giant (we now have Stewie!) and one of the admins. would have an absolute Bull Pucky FIT whenever someone even dared veer off topic, she was so anal about it it was funny! I will never go to that board again she was pathetic. She would PM you and attempt to chew you a new one....wacko.

Now, Lost....LOVED everything about Sawyer! Liked Jack, LOVED Sawyer. Sayid was pretty bad a$$ too. My new favorite shows are Once Upon a Time and Game of Thrones.

    KING JAMES
To allow people to live in close proximity to one another certain laws need to be in place, certain expectations of the way people are to act around others. What better way to get people to willingly follow these laws that go against everything we as animals are designed to do than to make a book that convinces me I will burn for all eternity if I do not follow certain rules and act a certain way. :D
