I hear you, I thought long and hard about mine. I guess what's most important (to me at least) is whether or not the tattoo had enough meaning to me to make it worthwhile. I figure, it's on your body, it should mean at least something to you. Most of what I have is related to my family in some form, and so even when I'm 60, my gramma and my best friend and my parents have most likely passed on, they'll always be with me. Can't really regret something like that, you know?
And Happy Birthday, Angela. :)

i just want a tattoo cuz im trying to be cool.

I think part of it's curiosity. The "Ooo, what is this like?" factor. There really is nothing like the feeling of a tattoo, I've tried to describe it to non-inked people and the best I can come up with is that it feels like a drag and a burn.

yeah its easy to get tatoos these days (well i guess it always has been) my friend got one when he was 14 (it was in japan) his mom just sighned whatever she needed to sighn and he was the coolest guy in all the 8th grade.

When I return to Japan (I used to live in Tokyo and Kanazawa as a student ambassador for the education system) I'm getting a set of tebori kittens on my upper arms. (Professional image be damned, I can only get these once in a lifetime!). Tebori is the Japanese style of hand-poked tattoos, only officially done by a half-dozen professionals in Japan who have had the skill passed down in their family. It'll cost an arm and a leg, but the work would be incredible and again, once in a lifetime thing. :)

Everyone's different I guess, to me it always felt like someone took a lit match, blew it out, then stuck it to my skin and dragged. Then again, most of my work is on my shoulderblades and the tops of my feet, so tattoo location might have something to do with it.

I have 21 tat's and got my first one 26 years ago. Do I regret getting them, or any of them? Absolutely not. The only thing I would have done differently is I would have had a professional do the one's that I did myself.
