Yes there IS a difference in heat bulbs and heat mats. Ball Pythons do better on belly heat for digestion (which they don't necessarily get, but I could go into the biology of it if you're so inclined) rather than being baked by a lamp.

It doesn't depend on the situation, and I'm pretty sure you're snakes are probably dried out. Had a shed yet? You're inexperience is flaring it's ugly head, talking crap about a respected member and giving misinformation. When you get your first few full sheds and perhaps a good setup (why do people put snakes in fish tanks?), we'll let you speak for everyone.

While I agree with everything you said, with the proper setup balls will do just as good with back heat as belly. Granted I don't use a lamp I use a rhp and both my bps shed, and poop/pee perfectly.

I avoided the "needed" term for the instance. To say its wrong is wrong, but it says it's best or correct is also wrong.

If you only have 2 snakes and you got them both at the same time, you can keep them together for quarantine. If you get more snakes you'll have to either put them in a separate room or start your quarantine procedure all over when the old snakes are exposed to the new snakes.

Top heat, belly heat, ambient room heat, all work just fine as a rule. Do what you like best.

It will make no difference in this instance whether or not you separate your snakes, they've been together already. So long as you buy from people with good reputations you shouldn't have any problems with a new snake. Perhaps a feeding lull or maybe mites, but most breeders don't have much disease in their snakes. The ones who do don't last long.

If it sounds too good to be true, whether it be price or size or morph, it probably is. Move on. Use the BOI on Fauna and ask here about people you want to buy from.

You haven't screwed anything up, you haven't made irrevocable decisions.

Good luck and have fun. You may also need to ignore some folks, but with the brains of a gnat, you'll figure out who in not time. There's a very viable candidate right in this thread.
