Normal adult girl: Rosca - She came to me with that name from the previous owner. Apparently she WAS named Rosco, until they realized she was a girl.
Bumblebee male: Zerok - My fiancee got him for me as a present, so I let him do the naming. Zerok is a battle post they have where he is currently deployed in Afghanistan.
Pastave female: Persephone- My favorite poem is Garden of Proserpine. Proserpine is pronounced same as Persephone, but I knew people would pronounce it wrong if they were just reading "Proserpine". :P Although in the poem, the writer uses.. um.. I forgot what it's called, but where they purposely use the wrong pronunciation to make rhymes off of. (wine, time, etc)
Normal baby girl: Striker- I'm actually picking her up in about three days. Name describes disposition; extremely snippy despite being worked with by the pet shop for the past two months. Decided to take her off their hands (much to their relief) since she'd discounted, has a nice pattern, and I'm familiar with her. Not bothering to rename her.
And I have a deposit down on a pastel ghost female, and I'm playing around with Esperanza or Jezebel... or Annabel Lee, which is another great poem.
I also have a cat with the lame name of "Lucky", but in my defense she genuinely earned the name with the strange and almost fatal way she came to us. Long story short, she rode 2 1/2 miles on a car battery before being discovered. Thankfully she hadn't fallen off, otherwise... Ick.

I currently call my BP Stupid Head, but I really should come up with a nicer name for him. He's pleasant enough, just a challenge to a new BP mom.
I have a yearling phantom morph corn snake named Lily. And two corn hatchlings: a motley named Zoom-Zoom (he zooms around the enclosure and looks like he has the Mazda symbol on his head) and an unknown morph named Shelby.

Re: snake names
I have an anerythristic corn snake named Casper, because it looks like he has a ghost on his head. And Tyrion, my pastel ball python.

I'm a Song of Ice and Fire (aka Game of Thrones for those who haven't gotten to read the books) nerd, so my males are named after the dragons and the females after the Sand Snakes aside from the spider who is Visenya because my male spider is Viserion and I liked how they sounded as a pair even though I probably won't breed them together. After I run out of those, I'll go to the characters' names.
To the person with Tali (I tried to quote, but it didn't work), I LOVE the name! Mass Effect is my favorite video game. I'll probably have a Garrus at some point as well. :)

I had a ton of ideas for male names, but was dead set on a female ball. I'm a huge Dexter (Showtime) fan and in love with the Hannah McKay character. So Hannah was my first thought, but the oldest niece is named Hannah. So I came up with Orchid, which seems to her calling card for Dexter. I came up with it for someone who was trying to name a cat (it didn't stick, I don't think they got it) and the first time I held Orchid it just stuck for her. Once I explained it to my wife she loved the name too and thought it suited our little one.

I named my normal female ball "Lillith."
No True Blood fans it's not because of the vampire god, it's an ancient story about a female demon in the Garden of Eden.

Thank you!
What's really crazy, is this was a secular story, but she is mentioned in the bible!
Not in great detail, but there is a biblical mention of her.
Besides this belief in animism, the early Sumerians seem to have believed in ghosts that were related to the world of the dead as the zi was related to the world of the living. The lil or ghost was a night demon of baleful influence upon men, and only to be cast out by many incantations. The lil was attended by a serving-maid (ardat lili, "maid of night") which in the later Semitic development was transformed into the feminine lilitu.
It is most curious and interesting that this ghost demon of the Sumerians lived on through all the history of the Babylonian religion, and is mentioned even in one of the Old Testament prophets (Isaiah 34:14; Hebrew Lillith, translated "night monster").
Little bit of meaning behind my little girls name lol.
