Hey everyone back from the vet with good news. The burns are not as bad as we originally thought. The snake does not need any kind of surgery or injections. I'm treating him with a betadine solution bath and with a topical silver sulfadiazine cream. Vet says that after a little while he'll be fine. Thanks for all the help and information guys. I really appreciate it.

Yay! Glad to hear it. Sometimes pix can be deceiving in their severity. Make sure to keep us updated in his healing process! <3

Wow, those pics looked awful! Glad to hear the report from the vet.

I'll also admit I felt sick at the thought that someone may have done this on purpose.

Hurt Ball python with horizontal cuts.
That will take more than a little while to heal.

Knowing High school kids, I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional :(
Recently, my sister had a goose she was caring for because she had laid eggs in an obvious spot, a few days before they were due to hatch, some kids took them and threw them all in the lake :(

Although, I think is was just a heat pad getting too hot, a far too common mistake. You would think a biology teacher would be smarter than that though...

I'm glad to hear it's not as bad as we thought. Keep us updated :)

Be prepared fo many very often and back-to-back sheds in the future too.

Good luck and I hope that in a few months you'll be posting amazing pics of a partially recovered animal.

I find it odd that a heating pad would burn up the sides that much. Definitely always use a thermostat.

    Glad to hear that. :)

Keep an eye on the area for infection and get treatment fast if any appears. Also every shed will probably re-open large parts of it - and she will shed a lot as part of the healing process.
