Apples and oranges, David. That's like saying The Princess Bride wishes it could be 1/2 as awesome as The Godfather. :P

I agree with Marla. I love Lord of the Rings. But you really can't compare the two. I honestly can't tell you which I like better.

If you wanna compare it in the same category as fantasy, The Rings wins hands down https://ball-pythons.net/modules/cop...10353/haha.gif

Okay, are we talking about the movies or the books? Or both? The Lord of the Rings movies are far superior to Harry Potter movies. As far as films go, LOTR is much more well done.

If we're talking books, that's where it's especially hard for me to compare because Harry Potter books are written as children's novels. Even though many adults enjoy them, they are intended for children/young adults, so you have to just take it for what it is. It's very enjoyable, light reading, which is why I've read all the books several times.

I actually liked reading The Hobbit better than the Lord of the Rings. I read it first when I was 12, then read it again a few years ago and really liked it. LOTR was great too, but it took me FOREVER to read and I found it to be really boring in parts, especially at the beginning. I just didn't have that much time to put into it. But it was worth it to get to the end. Excellent books.

Sorry I rambled. I'm going to bed now.

LOTR was extremely well done but relatively dull in comparison to Harry Potter ... just because LOTR is so incredibly SLOW MOVING and Harry Potter is obviously aimed at the attention span of a child (like mine!) so while I found LOTR brilliant and beautiful in the film sense .. I am more likely to watch Harry Potter again than re watch any of the four hour LOTR movies (I watch extended edition ;) )

Well, first of all, big ups to ginevive for being a Buffalo girl!! Ya gotta love the 20 minute city!

My hobbies include writing about & discussing politics, reading (mostly non-fiction about political figures that I like *Rudy Guliani* & those that i absolutely loathe *Hillary Satan, er I mean Clinton* & also those about sports figures), playing, watching or talking about sports, spending time with my eternal love Nanci & most recently, my adorable little Hissy Fits! I also enjoy drinking, probably a little too much! LOL

I guess its just that I grew up with the Hobbit, and the Lord of the Rings. I love both book and movie! I've read the book many, many times(I was a loner in high school :P ) so I'm heavily biased
