I actually met my girlfriend of 7 months on okcupid.com as well. She's not exactly a fan of animals without legs, but she likes me for me, and accepts that they're a part of my life. She's coming around a bit though, and as long as they're less than 100g, she doesn't mind holding them. :)

I'm sure things will work out for you and as people have said, take time for yourself and someone great will come along when you least expect it!

stay true to yourself. If self isn't ready to be in a relationship yet then don't rush anything! It's better to have no regrets and be able to say *I sky-dived* rather than *well, we could have gone sky-diving but my girlfriend/boyfriend didn't want to*.

When my wife and I split up I waited till I was ready then went on a mass dating campaign!

I joined all the online sites, and had all my friends setting me up with people they knew. I also joined a bunch of clubs, like running clubs and swimming clubs to meet ladies. I made an effort to say hello to pretty much anyone I found attracted to!

Eventually I gave up, went to a bar with some friends - turned around and saw the love of my life :)

The saying "It'l happen when you least expect it to" .... very true for me.

My father works at a car dealership and I was up at his work one day bothering him, getting my oil changed, tires rotated, and whatnot...
And this guy who worked there as well, walked past my dad's office... and I said, "Dad! WHO IS THAT GUY?! I HAVE to have him"...
... and we've been together for a little over 2 years now :)
