I've kept a variety of reptiles since I was a kid and don't remember what I got first or really why I loved them, so I consider my re-entry into the reptile world a few years ago as my "start". I got my female BP, Ella, from a reptile rescue almost 4 years ago because I just wanted one for a pet (had happy memories of my snakes and lizards as a kid, lol).... :P

A year later, my hubby having fallen head over heals for Ella, I decided I wanted a larger snake so I went to a reptile expo with no firm plans on what to get and came home with my female Colombian hypo boa, Peaches.

That fall (about 5 months later), I decided I reeeally wanted a GTP and after having a super conversation with a terrific breeder in Atlanta, I purchased Hunter. He was the first reptile I've had shipped.

About 9 months after Peaches, I found a perfect future mate for her from the same breeder I got her from and brought home Jasper, another Colombian hypo boa.

2 months after that, again from the same breeder (he knows "Sucker" when he sees one, lol....), I found a gorgeous Argentine boa male I just had to have and Mojo came home with us.

Then I found Humphrey (again at our local rept expo - maybe I should stop going there....), a gorgeous male Leachianus Gecko, and decided to take the plunge into geckos much sooner than anticipated. But sometimes you have to accept those opportunities when they present themselves. :D

So now that I've discovered the amazing world of geckos, and now that my hubby has claimed Humphrey as his own, I have 2 Crested Geckos awaiting shippment to me in the fall when the weather cools... Thus begins the addiction.... :gj:

My first was a sunglow corn snake. Then I rescued a leopard gecko about 3 years later followed by a few more when we moved into this house. Our friend stayed with us for a while and picked up a female normal who my husband admitted he didn't mind the look of. Went to a reptile show where both my 18 month old(at the time) picked a het albino, and I picked a normal back in September. Both are female. My husbands friend then asked if I could house his 2 RTBs till he can find himself a home where he could have them. In February I had my first snake shipped to me. A 2011 male het albino. April I picked up a 2011 male yellow belly. In May we went to a show where I picked up a 2010 female pastel and a 2011 male het pied. My husband then Decided he really liked a 2009 male pastel who ended up coming home with us. Last Friday I picked up a 2010 female het albino. Now I'm cutting myself off until my rat population catches up, and I try my first year of breeding.

    Lets see here:
Normal male, pastel female, mojo male, a normal female and male spider same day, female mojo, male pied and female lesser (who died for no apparent reason) same day, then a het pied and male spider same day.

Now I have 9 babies that just emerged from their eggs!!

Started with my female normal from Petco. Then I got a crestie. After that I got a jungle carpet python which I sold because it refused to eat very often. I then got a red tail boa, which i love and is my favorite snake by far, and just recently I got my very first T. A. Avicularia

Re: How did your collection start?
I only have one baby ball python right now. That will change tomorrow morning when my Brazilian rainbow boa arrives.

Always wanted a snake, went into Petsmart one day, saw a Ball Python, bought it spontaneously...

    And there you have it.

My first snake was my Hog Island boa and he still remains my favorite but after that I picked up a pair of pastel ball pythons then a het pied girl followed by 9 others over just a couple of months and now I am going to be getting an Enchi in a week or so and I am SUPER stoked about her!

It started with a corn snake, then my daughter drug me down the dark trail of bp addiction..... Spent her own money to get a normal bp (she was 7 at the time). Weeelll, fell in love. Then came a pastel, then a bumblebee, then another pastel, then a mojave, then a butter to make bels's. Then started the boa addiction..... :D

I just signed up for the forum yesterday as a way to learn and meet others who love reptiles. Within the last two months my daughter has slowly brought home a neglected collection from someone who couldn't handle all their animals. First was a baby female normal, a week later two adult male normals and a week after that two bearded dragons! The snakes are putting on weight and looking so much better. They were underfed, dehydrated and mite-infested. The Beardies were good but treated them for mites too just in case. I'm so hooked I contacted Royal Constrictor Designs about a bumble bee! :P
