Make sure to let is know how it goes!! Btw, there are no downsides to owning a bp. Nothing that isn't just part of owning a pet. They all live for x amount of years and have their ups and downs.

I feel ya man, I did a presentation of why people are afraid of snakes for my public speaking class. Just refer to the biblical stories, and how If people are raised to believe that snakes are dangerous, they will believe it no matter what. "SNAKE" is a very broad generalization. Where Im from, when people when people hear the word "snake", they think of venomous rattlesnake, just be sure to inform your viewers about BP's and how harmless they are

Think about this, if you know NOTHING bout snakes in general, then you go see the movie "Anaconda" where the snake Is 100 ft long and can FLY, you're going to be afraid of snakes. Lol just present about how awesome BPs make as pets.and how they aren't like other snakes,

The speech went great. I went over some history and their native habitat, some husbandry and housing info, and went into why they make great pets. Said that only the largest of ball pythons will get over five feet, that my girl will probably be a good 5.5 feet because she's so big at two years. Also talked about why they are great with kids, that ball pythons will take more poking, prodding and other abuse that children are known for that other snakes would not. Told them that it would be wrong to leave them with the impression that ball pythons never get aggravated. While they are docile 99% of the time they do get stressed and mad sometimes. And that there are two types of bites, feeding response and defense and that you should get a baby so you can learn the signs over time. Said that most people will eventually get bitten and that it's not a big deal. I got her out while I was waiting the for projector to load and showed them how calm and cool ball pythons are. Then I talked about morphs and genetics, said that morphs are ball pythons with a special gene that causes them to have a different color and pattern, and that for a color or pattern to be a morph it must be genetic. Then I showed pictures of different morphs and talked about prices. In conclusion I said that anyone looking to adopt a ball python who doesn't want to spend a lot of money and wants a wild type or normal should look on craigslist. That sometimes you find very healthy and well fed snakes from people who know their stuff. But that's not always the case, sometimes you find very unhealthy and sick snakes. I said that I strongly belief in rescuing ball pythons and that I know people who adopt sickly ball pythons to bring them to health and either keep them or plan to find them a good home. I didn't get the A that I wanted. I got a B because I went almost four minutes over. Overall I am satisfied and have educated twenty people :D

Yeah I didn't even need my notes. Part of it was that I needed to site my sources but I hadn't even thought of that. 99% of my info came right out of my own brain lol

I wrote a research paper about bps, well not like a real one but like a dumbed down one research paper, for my writing workshop class in highschool. I got a D on it bc i didnt cite any sources. I tried to explain to her that i really did know all of it bc at that point i had by keeping snakes for 3 years. She still didnt believe me and refused to give me my points back. She said theres no way i could have known everything in the paper which to most of you guys on here is just considered common knowledge. To this day i remember it perfectly and its something ill probably remember for awhile. I cannot believe the ignorance of some people...
