All I can tell you is to keep an eye on craigslist. Glass door mini fridges like this when broken compressors pop up every so often from people trying to get rid of them rather than trying to fix them.

Fans keep temps a little more even throughout the incubator by circulating the air. Even in smaller incubators the temps can vary as much as a couple degrees without the use of a fan. You'd probably be just fine in a smaller incubator, but as cheap as little computer fans are, its worth it to add one just in case.

One of our incubators. Nothing fancy. Just your standard cooler with some heat tape, fan, water bottles, Glad tupperware tubs and vermiculite all hooked up to a Herpstat. Its full of eggs at the moment so I'm not gunna take everything out for pics when we all know whats in it.

Mine is just a cooler incubator as well. I used a Heat cable wrapped arount the PVC layer at the bottom of the bator. PC fan has been wired to a 12V power supply and is what is used to circulate the air. So far, two successful clutches hatched with two more cooking!

Here's mine! It holds 4-6 clutches and is very simple. A friend at work chopped the cord accidentally so free fridge/incubator....lol
