You NEED to get him out of that enclosure asap. I use 5x2.5x2.5 as my grow out enclosures for the first few months, until the larger enclosure is constructed. If properly housed your nile will be larger than the fish tank is long in 8-9 months.
Please take the advice given to you, build him a cage and take proper care of him, or at least give him to someone who can house him properly.
