That's a crazy spider! It looks more like a high-white pinstripe.

I agree. There are some that are trained to smell snakes at airports to keep non native snakes from hitching a ride on the packages and causing devastation to the native ecosystem.

My dog has never paid any attention to any of my reptiles. It's like she doesn't acknowledge it as another animal because it smells differnt, or maybe she knows it's a non-threat.

If I were you I'd be grateful they didn't demand you cut open the snakes to prove they weren't mules. :O

It's not something you want to think about, but it does happen, people using animals as mules to transport drugs.

I suppose if they had, you could have begged for an x-ray instead.

Glad your babies are fine, and hopefully the next time FedEx won't jump to conclusions.

They would need a warrant for that. Which of course they can get easily, however if I were in that situation they would find themselves up lawsuit poo creek faster than they can recite their badge number.

It is after all still just a dog, and i know my dogs could care less about my snakes but show her a guinea pig and shes all kinds of interested! Anything a dog isnt used to is fun and exciting.
But my dogs are used to snakes and other herps. Being Bismarck, ND im sure not alot of reptiles go through our airport and this dog just responded very strongly to the smell of the snakes, either that or the guy i bought the snakes from could have smoked pot around the pillow cases or packing materiel before he sent it out :P
