To call someone on humanizing animals only to proceed with a statement that suggests that the animals automatically dislike something because they are just animals is almost the same as humanizing them.
No matter how primitive the animal, every single individual is different from the next, with different preferences and different reservations. Unless there is an obvious negative reaction to something, nobody can state that an animal dislikes something even though it tolerates it.
People can't read animals' minds, and so we are forced to simply repeat the activities that bring on a positive or neutral reaction from the animal because it doesn't have an obvious aversion to it, and we are left to assume that they enjoy it. Animals are animals, and they would let us know if we did anything that they disliked, so most things that we do regularly with animals is assumed to be liked by default.
