It's your pet and you have every right as anyone with a dog, cat, bird, or whatever to go out and do the same.

You thinks laws trying to prohibit you (or anyone else for that matter) to own snakes is no big deal?

You think that taking a snake in a public place helps people perceive snake owners in a more positive way?

People never cease to amaze me, all that for what? Get attention?

Can you tell me what the benefit are for the snake?

Snakes do not benefit from being taken to the park, neither does this hobby, nothing positive will ever come out of taking a snake to a park.

If you want to take your animal somewhere go to schools and educate people.

Kiddomarc, I noticed you put a thread up today about your BP having visable mouse feet, tail, and fur in its fecal matter. Obviously you know there is something possibly wrong with your snake. Why would you want to take it out of its element if it is possibly sick and not healthy?

We've had this discussion before, and should save the details for the "laws and legislation" forum... but San Francisco (the city itself) does have an overall ban on pythons & boas, although they only really enforce it within pet shops.

What would be the benefit? Your snake isn't dying to get out into an unfamiliar, open environment with lots of people around. There are probably a lot of people at the park who aren't dying for you to bring your python.

    Why bother?

I can't see myself ever doing this. It is stressful for a snake to change tanks or have his tank fully cleaned. Taking a snake to a park in an unfamiliar setting, with people they don't know is a bad move IMHO.

My pets come first, as much as I would love to have people ask questions and think it was cool. I doubt I would even take one to a rep show, it's just so much stress.

Please think of your animals, just because you can doesn't mean you should.

I've brought one of my snakes with my to the gas station, and gone on walks with him around my neck. He wasnt freaking as much as one would expect and stayed pretty reasonable. And a lot of people have ended up talking to me about it, and an entire party broke and came over to check him out, grab pictures with me, etc. It's fairly interesting to see how some people get about as excited as we do.

Mind that I only do this on ~80 degree days and make sure he is already calm before going out. Also I've only done it a few times and not recently (back when I kept him in a tank  ).

Did well in school, didja? Lots of good marks?

Because your ignorance is just about big enough to drive a Semi through.

You can't just take you dog to the park. You can't have it running loose. Not out here. There ARE laws against it. Here if you don't have the right permits, you're not supposed to have a great many animals.

You have every right to your ignorance and I see that you have firmly embraced it. Perhaps if you give up on that death hold it has on your brain you'll understand that it's NOT just about YOU.

ALL of us are affected by ALL of us. One idiot is all it takes to bring bad publicity down on all of us.

DON'T go to the park. I've given you sound and solid reasons not to. Others have done the same. Other than getting attention for YOU, there is no reason to take your snake there.

And if your snake is pooping whole mouse parts, and you're still thinking of taking it to the park, you are either woefully uneducated or just the type of idiot we don't need in this hobby.

Depending on where you are I think. You can bring your dog into any store you want and if they tell you to get out you can say you have him for medical purposes and they can't do a thing about it. Same thing goes for a snake. This is with exceptions that your dog/snake isn't harmful. If some one called the cops they would get in trouble because there is nothing illegal about having a snake. Also this goes for the laws in my City and State not sure if they are Federal laws or not but before you try doing anything I would look up your City and State laws.
