cops have to fear for their own lives every day due to the "cop haters" who gun them down while at the same time, making our towns & cities safer one criminal at a time.
& even then, after their job is done, it's up to the judicial system to make sure said criminals are not re-released back out on the streets. but...
    what happens?
all too often, criminals get a mere slap on the wrist & a "shame on you" finger shake!
    perfect example...
i was raped in the year 2000. typical show down...
cops escort me to hospital after i file a sexual assault charge with them. i go through the painful & humiliating physical examination while having to repeat my story over & over & over to different doctors, cops & the sexual assault response team counselor that shows up.
i see said counselor weekly while the cops find & arrest the suspect & get his side of the story. time goes on & i persistently ask the dectective on my case when the trial will be.
low & behold the counselor tells the detective that i'm not emotionally ready for the goings on of a trial. the detective & the D.A offer the rapist a plea bargain -
"you agree that you raped this person & we'll give you 3 years (which is actually 1 1/2 years for good behavior).
the cops did their job but the the judicial system failed me.
& its situations like that, that led to my dad being so overprotective.
    end of my rant.

I agree with you 1000%. And that is terrible in my opinion people like that should get life or the death sentence. Along with murderers.
