EDIT: ah you must have a good thermostat dont you lol :D

Yep. I have 2 Helix, 1 Double Ranco and my incubator is controlled by a Herpstat. None of which are cheap but Ranco was the most expensive. I could have purchased another BP morph for what I paid for that one lol!

Hey guys. I am finalizing my list of supplies to finally tally up how much money Ill be spending :D

The last thing I have to decide is, Do I need to get 3 thermometers?

One for temp, one with temp and humidity, and one with a probe?

    OR

    if I get 2

one with humidity and temp, and one with a probe, will the one with the probe work like a regular thermometer unless I want to get a reading from the probe?

What im sayin is, will http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=2752177 work the same as http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en

unless I want it to read the temp where the probe is? like can you cycle between those 2 options?

    Thanks!

I am actually selling the accurites. I snatched a couple from my local store since some people have a hard time finding them. http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...39#post1357739

Personally, that unit is the most bang for your buck. You ideally want one thermometer with a probe, one ambient air thermometer, and one ambient air hygrometer. This unit has it all in one. In my opinion, this unit is more accurate then the digital pet store thermometers.

what is this "snake starter kit" and why is it so expensive?? You should not have to pay more than $100 for the whole setup if you go with tubs.

I have a feeling this "starter kit" will contain a bunch of expensive things that you don't need.

Are you just wanting to get a normal ball python? How much are you paying for just the snake?

Im paying 80 dollars for the snake, 100 for the kit

This is because I live in an area where there are 3 pet stores.

1 is terrible, ill NEVER go there (petsmart)

2nd is just as bad, Pet Paradise

3rd is amazing and I love it, they actually care about thier animals and ive NEVER seen one sick or injured animal there, also never seen any that are not being cared for properly

Not to mention im in Canada so the price is inflated anyway (where as in the US it would prob be max like 40 - 50 dollars for the snake, here its 80 - 120)

If i didnt buy the kit, the 20 gallon it comes with would be 50 - 60 dolalrs, the UTH it comes with would be 30, and the hide that it comes with would be 10 - 15 $

also comes with aspen substrait, about 10 dollars for al arge pack, so im getting a great deal :D

Mainly because I always chill in there and chat with the owner lol

Have you tried finding a ball python breeder in your area? Clutches are starting to hatch now and I am sure you could easily find a cheap normal for $30 or so.

I am just curious what is in this $100 kit. You could buy a complete setup (enclosure, heating thermometers and a thermostat) for that amount of money.

Not to mention if you went straight to a breeder, the snake would be much cheaper.

yeah the store breeds thier own, its a shop but i mean they do breed their own animals, and I have checked extensively in the area and haven't been able to find breeders :(

its all because of where I live

if i was in BC, i would find a breeder in a second, plus they are cheap there and they have reptile shows ect that sell them

wish i lived there at the moment lol

like for example, the kit includes (probably has more but these are the only items in it that i know about)

    UTH
    Hide
20 Gal tank with screen lid
    aspen substrait
1 thermometer (probably not digital tho, so ill just buy a diff one)

in my area, these items add up to way more than 100 dollars

For example ill put the price on them that ive seen

UTH - 30 dollars (without tax)
20 gal tank (50 for tank, without tax, 20$ for lid without tax)
aspen substrait - 10 bucks for a big bag
thermometer (digital/non digital are obth almsot same price, give or take a few dollars, so im gonna put it at 10 - 15$)

Whereabouts are you in Canada? Have you tried searching http://faunaclassifieds.com? Are you at all interested in getting the animal shipped to you? That might be an option worth looking into.
