Did you have a pet snake as a kid?

Although my mom simply put up with them, my dad had an interest in reptiles, mostly in response to enjoying the pleasure they brought my sister and I. We had two spur thighs (one of which now lives with family friends and is HUGE), my Rosy boa, and my sister's Chameleon. The highlight of my year growing up was the annual reptile show in Tampa, and talking my dad into bringing home something new every year (to mom's dismay). This June will be my first trip back to the Tampa show in probably 10 years, so I'm pretty pumped, and may talk pops into coming with me to complete the experience.

had a gopher snake either in high scool or college. Came home from school and found it dead with with the mouse regurgatated hanging out of it's mouth. My mom said she wished it dead as she hated it. never got another until the ball I got 2 months ago.

I got a cornsnake when I was 8 or 9 and she did pretty good. I did all the research and took the advice of our herp shop :). I also kept tadpoles we caught from our pool when we cleaned it and raised them. When I was 11 I kept a white's tree frog, cute little sucker.

I gave my tree frog and my corn to the local herp shop when I was 13 because that was only way my parents would let me get a ball python. It was a tough decision but I don't regret it, I love Anubis soo much! He is now 5 or 6 years old by my best guess :D

A couple of years ago a lady at work asked if I wanted a snake. I said, "All my life!" It never occurred to me that I had moved out a while ago and could have one. I've had Dasia for two years now and I just got my second, Schrodinger, last month.:banana:

Well, I'm technically still a kid. But I did have a snow corn snake when I was 6 or 7. My friend let him out, though, unfortunately, and I never saw him again.

Well, when I was a kid, my Dad was totally into reptiles of any sort so our garage was a never ending rotating snake/reptile room. I just thought everyone did that so it never surprised me that at any given time we would have copperheads and garters, moccasins and king snakes...you name it, we had it. All were wild caught and only kept for a month or two and then released back where they were found. (Except the venomous if found near people-they got relocated).

Only got into boas and balls a few years ago when my husband called and asked if he could have a BP someone was giving away. Strangely enough, said "BP" turned out to be a female BCI (boa). Now as of just this moment in time, we have 2 BPs, 5 boas and 1 corn, subject to change at a moments notice though.

My mom is terrified of snakes so I didn't get my first pet snake until I was an adult and no longer under her roof. ;)

Nope My Mother would never let me , so now when my fiance says "Your Getting Another one " I tell her to blame MOM lol I was always told they would get out and eat my brothers lol yeah weirdo

when i was i kid i was actually petrified of snakes, when i was 19 i decided having fears was stupid and here i am today, two snakes later..

I've had a petsnake since I was 6 (18 now)
