Re: ? On buying a spider ball python

Re: ? On buying a spider ball python
What do you folks mean by a "wobble" when it comes to a spider?
Re: ? On buying a spider ball python
If it's a female it'd be a decent price, I got my spider at a sale for $75 (price is usually $150), he has some great coloring and so did all his siblings. But I usually see spiders around $200 and up especially if they're females.

Spiders have a neurological (or possibly balance ) issue attatched to the morph so every spider, or morph containing a spider such as a bumblebee, can show varying levels of symptoms at various stages of their lives.
Do a forum search on "spinning" and "wobble" + spider to see some of the threads on it.

It just means that the hobby is progressing, and other morphs are being developed. It's a good thing, because it shows that good genetic stock is taking hold!

YouTube - Spinner Ball Python Wobbling
its kinda like they're drunk. my spider has it a little, but I like the morph so I don't mind it as long as he eats and he's healthy.
Re: ? On buying a spider ball python
The important thing to note about this is that the spider was still able to get where he meant to go, he was alert to his surroundings, and his reflexes were fine as well--he just seems to not always be sure which way is up.
This is part of what makes the 'wobble' distinctive from neurological issues such as stargazing.
I've not seen a spider in person quite as severely affected as the one in this video, but they can be.

They can be worse than the one in the video as well.
