keep Striven man. Dont let all those sap suckers talk you down. besides the way the market is eating its self im sure you can find some sweet deals. But it wouldn't be a bad Idea to get two pastels like what was mentioned above and save up some cash, so when they are ready to breed you could get a spider male and produce some killer bee's I mean they can breed at 500 grams easily. I recommend a bit more weight though. Keep it up and shop around.

I dont even want to mention how much investment or money into this hobby i have put in 1 year. Does that bother me? Not in the least. I will attempt to breed 5-6 females this year.

This is what occurred prior. 1 year of research and forum reading. Visiting BHB in person. Asking questions/learning.

Having in place housing for up 50 babies. Will I have 50? Of course not but it is possible so I need to have that in place. Food in freezer. Temp control units. Vet money fund in place just in case. Oh yeah permission from my wife:).

The mindset of a hobby/or in own home breeder has to be this imo. I will have to sell animals for 5 years with no issues and everyone taken em off my hands to even come close to the initial money in. And that is the point. Money is a benefit in the end that may or may not come. If it doesnt you are left with your enjoyment/passion and love for the animals. Is that enough? If its not then the path chosen may be incorrect.

You may have all this taken care of, if so that is awesome. Just making sure that when it comes down to it the venture needs to start with enjoyment from the animals. The investment into breeding and having multiple animals is to high for it to be much more then that to start.

Just to point out using the phrase "stunning bee's" would have been better as killerbees are a morph in their own right that he would be unable to produce in the first generation with those ingredients. :D

I know what you meant but I just thought I'd mention it to avoid confusion later.

Lets say you do find a pair of snakes in your price range and try to breed them. They might not breed for several years just because they dont feel like it. Husbandry has to be spot on. And the snakes have to be stress free and well fed. If you only have a pair of low end morphs the hachlings they produce will in no way pay for the hobbie. I only have 14 snakes and im still behind on the money part. If you breed your own feeders it will help tons. But plan on keeping 1 trio of rats per snake.
If you plan on getting into high end ball pythons for profit, it takes money to make money. Plan on spending thousands of dollars and not making any profit for several years.

Just so you know there are multiple colleges out there that allow animals, you just have to look around. Freshman year I was able to keep 4 snakes, a camel spider and a sugar glider in my room. Multiple people had dogs, cats and other animals. Im not saying this is true for most schools but you can find it if you look.

As far as state schools go, you are not allowed to keep animals on campus.
