Facts point to kinking being "somewhat" isolated to early line breeding by one of the founding Caramel lines. I am not comfortable naming the line. :colbert:

The bottom line as I see it is that common thought would have you believe/infers that every third visual Caramel/Caramel combo is a "bent in half TRAIN WRECK" I find this notion abjectly ABSURD!!!

I have heard the same thing actually. I believe Ralph Davis talks about it one of his vids.

Look the kinking happens to Caramels specifically, so I don't see how anyone would assume it's caused by egg conditions (however in all balls this could be a problem, pay attention to your eggs, they're delicate).

The issue could very easily be bred out, provided it isn't caused by the same gene that causes them to be caramels, by simply breeding them to normal balls and not line breeding.

Also if you start feeling the need to line breed, try to seek a trade first, it's better for the snakes and it's better for the customers. It may be true that it can be done for 20 generations, but every time you line breed a snake you are strengthening small genetic abnormalities that snake may have, thus you have the ability to both create new morphs by doing this, or to create a snake with no lower jaw.

Obviously there are times where you cant easily create 8 generations before line breeding, when you have a new morph, but otherwise just mix it up and trade with the community or breed your snakes to some other line.

    Nice Ultramel!!!

We have a female thats nearly up to breeding size, and she has kept her colour really well.

As for the prices, $7000 seems very expensive. We paid £2000 for ours , but they are going for around £2500 in the UK just now.

Gonna try and make a ghost ultramel.

Got lock ups right now between my 2007 Ultramel male and a 2006 POG - imagine the super pastel ultramel glow  :taz::banana:

Pretty excited - hope it doesn't show too much...

He's also locking up with a 2007 Ultramel female so hopefully high purple and yellow ultramels pipping next year!

I think the price is high in US due to relatively low availability as I understand Noah focussed more heavily on the European market initially.
