    Sad, but true.

Why is $150 right? Because your pal Big Daddy sells them that cheap?

    http://www.constrictors.com/Pythons.html

That's where I get my general prices from, and even when surfing the web for them, most breeders sell around there (with anywhere from a 10~20% difference, or more if it's a specific line). The prices go down at shows a bit more than this, and you can haggle lower, but at around 50% off $180 for a spider is quite low.

Personally I just check there and 8 Ball and other places to buy them since its pretty hard to find a ride to the show around here and since there are maybe 3 breeders at my local show I would even buy snakes off of (out of maybe a dozen).

Guys, bringing up show prices isn't really an apples to apples comparison. Show prices are always lower. Look at any thread about any show and you'll see the remarks about how cheap this and that was selling for.

I guess I should have put the disclaimer in my post that these are MY opinions. Whether you agree or not is irrelevant. But this is an open forum and everyone is free to express their own thoughts on the subject.

If you figure around $50 for packaging and shipping, then $180 shipped is actually $130 for the animal. That is quite a bit lower than I have seen.

Dylan: I get what you are saying. Economy is bad, not enough space for babies, gotta feed the family. Everyone has these problems. I value the animal more and would rather hold on to them than sell them at less than what I believe they are worth. I am sorry, but I just don't believe Spiders are $130 animals yet.

Huh, I guess this was kind of a test for me... I mean I thought I might have wanted to buy a spider, but even at $180 I still wouldn't buy it. I guess I'm holding out until the girls are bigger and I can get a Lesser. :/

Yeah this was entirely off topic...

Oh and yeah we both kind of pointed out that show prices are reduced, and I kind of think that's because of the desire to sell the animals right then and there (lower price, means you're more likely to sell it, huge number of buyers around and you're likely to move product).

If you're not a big breeder then I kind of think your online prices shouldn't be much less than the prices at shows, as those are already majorly discounted.

Wow.... that just sounds messed up. Like how nerds justify selling drugs to pay for whatever they're into.

Wow Rjk...changing Jamie's name in the quote was mature.

If you want to be able to have a self sustaining hobby, then if the animals you sell are going for less, then you'll have to sell more to be able to buy the combo or recessive that you want...jus sayin
