Gotta say I like carpets. I mean I am definitely a ball guy and all, but the Jungles, Angolans, and spotteds all have appeal to me. I am not really into the big boys. I do have to say, I am about as much into boas as all those other pythons though. I would trade my girlfriend for a BRB, but then again I think she would trade herself for one LOL. She loves those. Sorry for going a little off topic.

I do like the rainbow of the balls - else, why be here?! - but also enjoy the heck outta my small group of red bloods. Other favorites with which I've not so much experience, but would love to get to know better would include JCP, Diamonds, "Chondros", White-Lipped and Ringed pythons. Wouldn't mind getting to know Angolans or Boelen's, either . . .

I like the ringed pythons too, but I wish they kept the juvenile coloration. I would have to say that Olives are on the tip top of my favorites list. I almost pawned my car to buy a pair at Daytona!

A few of my other favs are chondros, JCP's, and angolians.

Chondros! Once I have the space and money I plan on picking up one or two of these and having really nice display setups for them. There's just something about about them I can't get over! I recently got to handle an adult. Man, they're just amazing.

There's a guy in FL that is breeding them and I jsut saw a 16 year old female that was (while faded) orange and black not brown or even tan like I've seen alot of them.

The only other python I've owned was a Macklott's, Cain, and she was the coolest pet reptile (maybe tied with my trained collared lizards) that I've had. I got her as a yearling from a local exotics pet shop that had a nice reptiles section that was run by a kid who knew a lot about reptiles and dart frogs, and whose friend produced the clutch of Macklott's that Cain was from. She grew to about 8' and had almost no freckles, which made her look a lot like a small olive python, which I loved about her. I've actually been on the look out for a similar looking Macklott's for a while now.

She tamed down pretty quickly, and had a great personality. She was very active, had a great feeding response, looked badass, and was just a wonderful pet snake all around.

When my girlfriend and I broke up, I moved into my parents' house for a couple of months, and my snakes were in the main room in their cold basement. I had two space heaters to heat the entire area, and each enclosure had it's own heat, obviously. Everything was perfect and they were all triving. But, there was a bad storm and their power went out for two days, while I was out of town, and when I got back all my snakes had frozen to death. My Macklott's, a pet ball python, three breeder corn snakes and 6 juvenile corn snakes had all dropped down into the 40s and died. I was devastated, and the experience almost kept me from getting back into the hobby, but when I had the chance to buy a pair of het albino balls, I was back. I still really miss Cain more than anything.
