Cheap with booze is the requirements. :)

I'll let it slide this time. After all you have planned our last 5 get togethers lol. I am sure its more than that though lol. What would we do without Heather.

After speaking with a few people yesterday, the place that seemed to come up most given our guidelines was Buca di Beppo, 705 6th Ave., San Diego. It's about 7-8 blocks away from the Civic Center. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Here's the link:

    http://bucadibeppo.com/locations/def...?location=0508

Another option that was mentioned was Karl Strauss Brewery, 1157 Columbia Street, which is about 5-6 blocks away from the show. I think it's a bit more expensive than the other, but there isn't anything in downtown/Gas Lamp that is cheap, and someone mentioned that their beer sampler is a good deal. Here's the link to that one if you want to check it out:

    Your thoughts?

I'm all over Buca there portions are huge and there is plenty of room for a big group at least here in Vegas as far as a watering hole as long as they have Soda we are cool with it

There are some bars that were recommended to me, but I didn't want to exclude the under 21 group. I can call Buca's to find out what they have for a bar/booze.

Ok, here's what I found out. Buca does have a full bar- not a large one - it's fits about 30 people- mostly it's a place for people waiting for tables to sit. But, you can get alcohol.

They have atm machines right outside the doors I believe. Most venders deal in cash only but some of the bigger booths might take cards. Not 100% on all that but that is what I remember from last year.

Yuppers remember when dealing with vendors money talks. Its much easier to haggle when you got it in your hand.

P.S Im down for Buca I go to the one in Vegas every time im in town. Delicious. Its probably the best place for a moderately large group.

    Breaking news!
I called the place mentioned and, given our guidelines, was recommended to the Stout Public House--a real bar and a restaurant (so no problems with under 21) that someone described as a "classy Irish pub". It's about 4 blocks from the show and their menu looks reasonable (so it's easier than going family style at Buca's). It's on 1125 6th Ave and we're thinking about meeting at 7 pm. Their website is:

    www.stoutsd.com

    What do you think?

That sounds good here too... Wherever works for us. We are not too picky. I just don't want to spend an arm and a leg for dinner.

What a good show! This was by far the most packed the San Diego show has ever been. All of the vendor's tables sold out, and as a customer it was tough finding space just to look at the animals. Hopefully good news to the reptile industry. I ended up with a beautiful orange ghost female bp from Reptile Industries. She's already taken a fuzzy rat.

On another note, this was the first time I've seen small turtles for sale. Have they changed the wording on the law for the sale of these animals in California? Tables had signs next to their small turtles stating that it was legal to sell on a small scale to enthusiasts (or something along those lines). I almost took home a couple of baby softshells...
