Wow Bruce, that is so unbelievable. You need to buy a lottery ticket, because you have the best luck and karma of anyone I know. I really have nothing else to add as I am pretty much speechless. WOW.

Wow Bruce. JUST WOW. The fact that you went in and found both those other girls in the wreckage, just chilling (maybe literally) is amazing. And at a good time too. Yesterday was super nice and warm but it's supposed to be a chilly night tonight.

I'm also happy to hear that your neighbours' animals escaped and were found alive. That's just fantastic.

On a side note, I think it's about time you head out and buy a lottery ticket. ;) Just saying!

Dare I say the day of the fire I went for a walk after everyone else was in bed and found a nice metal/punk bar. Went in with my last twenty, drank 18.00 of is away and put the toonie in the VLT. Hit a win and walked out with 80.00.

If I were not for that 80.0 I would have had no cash this week without having to ask people to lend me. So... maybe I will get that ticket today. :D

It is coming together... we have a ride secured for the rodents, and I am taking them and supplies to Ian in Ottawa, he has the lion's share of the snakes.

We leave tomorrow evening and will help build the rat racks when we get there.

My friend Jay is donating the day, which is nice, as he thinks that my rats and rodents are about the most trite hobby in the universe. BUT he knows how important they are to me. :P

That's the mark of a good friend really isn't it. Even if the rats aren't important to him, they are to you so they become important to him. I'm glad the rats are going to Ian and will be one less thing for you to worry about right now.

I'm so sorry to hear about the fire, but I'm jumping for joy to hear that everyone is safe. I'd like to help. I'll jump on paypal now and will send a care package later. Please keep us updated on what you need.

As I read the first post, the lump in my throat became so big I could barely continue reading. I couldn't even find the words to express my sympathy, so I closed the link and then clicked on the next link that told the rest of the story. I can barely find the words this time either, but let's just say I am speechless with joy about the animals.

I am sorry that your home was damaged, but I am thankful both of y'all and all the animals survived. My husband tells everyone that if we ever have a fire I will perish because I would more than likely refuse to leave until every last animal was out safe and sound. I sure hope that theory is never tested because he's probably right.

God Bless you, Jerome, and all the animals that will continue to enrich your lives.

Im sooo glad for you Bruce!. The lost was "limited" to just "stuff" - non living, replaceable THINGS. Still a loss, though. However, the things you loved the most, and loved you back, are not lost. And those snakes will help you recover that loss of stuff, and help you to rebuild anew. If you were in the same country, I'd be willing to foster quite a few for ya. ;) Got knows I've got the room! My thoughts with you and Jer. :blowkiss:

Hi Bruce - I am quite late in responding, but I want to say that I wish you, Jerome, and all the animals the very best. It is really wonderful that your friends (real life and online) are pulling for you. My budget is pretty limited as always but I will try and make at least a small donation, I know every little bit helps. Best of luck to you both.

I am a pretty new person on the forum who has mostly just read trying to get a feel for the personality of this forum, and I have been offline for a couple of weeks while studying for/taking my doctoral general exams . . . I am completely shocked. I just came back to this horrifying and wonderful story. I am amazed and uplifted and now completely convinced that this has got to be the best forum ever.

Bruce, I hope by now that you and Jerome have found a new home where you can have your snakes, rats, & mice . . . I am sorry for what you lost, but as others have noted, it was so little in comparison to what you still have. Most importantly, you are blessed in the richness of your lives with the many friends and caring people around you.

I am sorry for the loss that the fire did to your home. I am VERY VERY glad none of your animals where hurt! If I was closer I would foster some of your guys/gals. Hope you are able to get back on your feet soon.
