The tubs are also from IKEA and are made for the wardrobe. They come in 3 different sizes now.
Now I have made a hatchling rack from the wordrobe in the picture. 85 vision tubs.. Works great!

It comes with two shelves so the rest of them you have to buy separate.

Thanks, the snake on the left is a Cryptic Genetic Stripe from EbN :)

I wanted to see how cheap you could put a rack together. Wal-mart had these shelves for $28 and the tubs for $7.50 a piece.

    http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...eese/rack2.jpg
Didn't even have to cut the legs to make them fit.

Then my next project was to build a nice one as cheap as I could using the same tubs so I could have a standard to build on with later.

    http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...eese/rack1.jpg
This is 1 1/8 melamine of very high quality and I think it came out nice seeing I got the rack for free :D , only had to buy the screws, tubs, heat tape, etc.

I came out better with using that free wood then buying my own shelf. Only thing is that it's freaking heavy.....I guess next time I'll use rollers or something else.

Here is my first attempt at a home made rack. It is similar to halfdawg's. I am happy with it. The only thing is, if I decide to get into breeding seriously, I will need more racks. :P At least I have the experience and know how to do it again.

The hides pictured are upside un-used kitty litter boxes with a hole cut ou t of the front. Makes good medium sized snake hide boxes. and this is our first attempt at a rack. still getting the gist of the heating though, got more heat tape comming in this week.

thanx for all the kind words

Here's my current setup. I'm a little upset that once I move I'm going to break it down and buy a new pre-made rack. I don't think it's going to move well.

Here is my "the home depot guy had no clue how to cut melamine with out destroying it, I cant drill screws straight" rack! LOL. I just bought 2 of the metal racks from walmart. Foiled taped some flexwatt on there and got some 35qt tubs and some of the 15 qt tubs I already had. I even modified one of my acurites like in the DIY section but it just works better if I leave them inside. Enjoy

I remember that fear factor that you're referencing!! I was rollin on the floor when I saw that episode, until I started worrying that they were gonna crush the snakes with how they were thrashing around in there.

[QUOTE=Icatsme;707707]Here's mine. I just have one 10 tub at the moment. We're going to put the house up for sale, so I moved it in the closet. It fits great. Don't want prospective buyers freaking out when they see my kids. Now I just need to get a larger tub rack to put my big adults in.

everybody with the really nice racks like this, the black ones, what are they made of? i'm definitely looking into building some new racks, our last ones were an epic failure.

The rack in this picture looks like an Animal Plastics Rack System. I have purchased my racks from Reptile Basics. http://www.reptilebasics.com/ The racks from Reptile Basics are made from 3/8 PVC Plastic.

PVC pipping yes but sheets of 3/8" thick PVC plastic I don't think so. The racks that Rich sells from Reptile Basics are a great price.

thanks. i'll have a better look around for the pvc. already manufactured racks are great, but i can do it myself just as well. once i pay to have them shipped + GST + duty etc to get them into Canada, it's just not worth it. i can get them from Greg at Cornel's World in Canada, but again the shipping costs are a lot and if i can build them myself, yahoo!

    Re: Post your racks pictures
I see. Shipping to Canada might be a bit much. You could always use melamine just do not make the rack to wide or it will start to bow.

    Good luck!

yeah, i just built a 72-slot rack for our corn snake hatchlings out of melamine, and GOD that thing weights a ton, haha. only reason i don't want to get into building my racks out of melamine. much too heavy!

I picked up a sheet of 1/4 PVC from a sign shop. I'm sure if you have one in your area they may be able to special order it in for you.

What sign shop did you order it from? Was it super expensive? I called Home Depot and Rona to ask if they had and they both sounded like they thought I was mental.

nice setup. I'm always envious of the people here with that many snakes , but then I stop and tell myself things could get out of hand very quickly.

There's so many cool looking snakes out there that if I didn't keep myself in check, I'd have a hundred snakes and be broke, lol.

just curious , how much time do you spend cleaning those tubs every week?

I want to make a rack system though but not sure if i should. I only have boas and they would outgrow the rack system I'm thinking. I can always remove the middle divider to enlarge the cages... But the only problem is they don't have heat under the cage and heat strips won't heat through the 3/4" plywood. What should I do?
