Probably just being a weirdo lol. I catch Gina sometimes stretched out on her shelf with her head hanging down or sometimes sitting on top of a hide. I catch Louie around his plants all the time. That guy LOVES live plants. I took them away for a while and he would just sit in his hide. Now that i went out and got him some new plants, he is always outside sitting around the plants lol.

One of the cutest/goofiest things he does is bury himself in substrate, crawls half out of his hide, and peaks his head out of the mulch. He’s definitely a weirdo but I love him. Like a more inquisitive ball python with a blood red tail lol

Shed #3 with me today. Weighed in at 144grams, exactly double his weight on arrival here, though I’m certain he’s holding back some waste. He only poops like once a month or slightly more frequently at best.
He’s still eating hoppers weekly but they are looking super tiny anymore. Those who have raised boas from neonates, when would you consider offering multiple hoppers or increase prey size? He’s 9 months old next week. I’m by no means trying to push him in terms of growth rate but also don’t want him to be underfed. Just looking to hear about other’s experiences regarding prey size/frequency as he’s my first and (currently) only boa.

Not sure about the feeding, but that is one BEAUTIFUL snake !!

The Surinams have always been my favorite Boas hands down !

Gus actually bought my 2 stacks of Neodesha cages years ago. Drove all the way to Savannah GA to get them. Back then I didn't realize how important and famous Gus was in the Reptile Industry.I remember talking to him and that he was from Brownsville TX.

I haven't thought of that in forever, but after coming across your post and the other pretty Suriname, it made me remember that :)

You can definitely start giving him an adult mouse every 10 days. When he turns 1.5 years old switch him to a Weaned rat every 2 weeks.

Thanks Ricky. The thing is, I’ve got a bag full of probably 30 frozen hoppers still. Think two hoppers per feeding for a bit would be okay? I generally don’t like to feed multiple items but I’ve got so many left and nothing else small enough to help eat them

Thanks! Leonard’s color in these pics is mostly from the lights in my living room. He’s still pretty grey as well but getting a little bit of buckskin coloration on his dorsal pattern.
This is how he looks under the ceiling light in the snake room.

You can do 2 hoppers per feedings. That is what i was told by Chris to do when i was planning to up size Gina. You basically want to slowly stretch him for bigger food so he doesnt puke it up. Gina is almost 2.5 years old and she is still on weaned rats every 2 weeks. Same with Louie and Luna.

Awesome, thanks dude! Was hoping you’d chime in. That’s exactly what I was concerned about, regurge from too large of a new prey item. That and having a bunch of leftover hoppers with nothing else to help eat them (yet)... I just fed him tonight before I leave for all of next week. I’ll probably step up to two hoppers every 10 days once I get back from my winter break.

I know Sauzo already answered this, and I agree with him. Feed 2 every 10 days until your stock runs out.

Thanks rich. He’s easily doubled his body mass in the last 7 months but it’s still wild for me to be raising such a slow growing snake for once. He’s going to be 1yr old on March 28th and he’s barely 2’ long, if even, and maybe 150grams or so

    Sorry, just saw this.
Breeder was a guy named Anthony Trinh. Mother was produced by Chris Wolfe and the dad was a 2013 Gus Rentfro holdback that was previously owned by a forum member here, ScottyDsntKnow or something like that?

    I totally agree, Rich.

I thought they got much bigger than Behira, a female BCI, will be. I also did not fully understand that how you feed is very relevant to how big they get.

I also found Feliz, who is a dwarf BCC, and he's awesome and will stay small.

Now that I've educated myself, I couldn't be happier with two Boas in the collection!

BNS is a friend of mine and IMO, very well versed in the care of boas. A lot of my knowledge comes from the discussions I've had with him in the past.

Not only does he own two beautiful Pokis, he has two BCO and one of them is probably the nicest I've laid eyes on.

Is this your buddy that had a poki litter recently? I know you and your wife have an agreement to no more critters but a friend having a pure locale litter so close by would have me negotiating like you wouldn’t believe!
