Man oh man! Corn snakes are the species that caused me to fall in love with snakes as a child. I currently don’t keep any, but your photo of Hannibal has me thinking that I may have to change that. Beautiful animal.

Re: My Corn collection (pic heavy)
Just hours before leaving for a weekend trip, one of Hannibal's babies decided to make an early appearance. It's only a caramel Miami like the dame. Hopefully some of the other babies prove out some of the hets.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e3df0ec37b.jpg

Re: My Corn collection (pic heavy)
All babies are done piping, fully out of the eggs, weighed and put into individual bins. Several possible hets got proved out. The honey Miami's should have an even cleaner look than Hannibal with nice contrasting yellow on silver since they aren't bloodred (diffused).
Final count is
(6) Caramel Miami 100% het sunkissed, bloodred, 66% ph cinder
(3) Honey Miami 100% het bloodred,66% ph cinder
(2) Caramel shatter Miami 100% het bloodred

Yeah the color contrast and saturation is what makes then a favorite of mine.

Me neither, especially since they don't have quite the same adaptation as the official "egg-eating snakes", though I know that hungry gopher snakes have been known to
swipe chicken eggs from chickens...:D I just don't know how well they digest them?
Do corn snakes digest the shells too, or do they find a way to crack & hack them up? And what kind of eggs are those, by the way? Quail?
Alas, I've been "depriving" my corn snakes...
Re: My Corn collection (pic heavy)
Around here big black rat snakes love chicken coops. They eat the egg and the mice that eat the feed. I've heard of corns spending a lot of time in trees so I figured they might be raiding the nests of small birds. most of my snakes also love chicks and quail so I figured eggs aren't that far off and worth the try.
Three of my corns and a king all took eggs on their first attempt. Two others ate them on the second attempt when I put the eggs in a pile with f/t hatchlings. I'll test more of my corns when breeding season passes.
These are eggs from button quail that I breed. I also have and abundance of coturnix and chicken eggs I'm going to try on larger snakes like the retics. Once the egg got several inches down (about an inch past the last photo) there was a very audible crunching sound as the egg broke. It looks like maybe half the shell got digested and half expelled in her waste.
Re: My Corn collection (pic heavy)
After making it through this whole thread I am 100% rethinking my plans of a BP or possible Boa. My wife likes the more colorful snakes and I think corns are about as colorful as they get! Maybe get another corn. Diablo has gone 20+ for me so far, so another one would take me quite a ways!

Assuming one of my girls drops eggs in the next week, everything goes smoothly with incubation and feedings I'm hoping to make the may repticon show in Baltimore.

Re: My Corn collection (pic heavy)
Looks like I might have some new additions coming in a few months. 16 good fertile eggs from a Miami X Miami tessera pairing.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...51299d3b2a.jpg

Congrats on the miami tessera eggies!!
Thanks! I never realized how popular they were. Those genes is very similar to mochino is retics which also seems to be popular.
