I just commented on Medusa's thread and now I see even more beautiful boas here! You're really tempting me with them, aren't you? And the floral background in these latest pictures looks great.

Nice pictures, somehow I’m subscribed to your YouTube channel and caught that video first. Pretty cool and one day I’ll catch mine in action.

Thanks jake, yes the bcl really are nice boas, that's why I had to take photos, because I don't often get to see them,l. It's normally just rolled up for me or stretched round the viv for me to clean up

There is something just SO satisfying about watching a shed smoothly glide off, like in your video clip. With that said, I'm also glad you caught some pictures of the beginning; she looks like she's wearing a bonnet, haha! Such a beautiful snake. I remember you explained the origin behind the name Mama Quilla, but did you ever mention how Etso got his name? I'm curious.
Also, what would you consider the main differences you've noticed between longicauda and imperator, if anything?
-
Really nice Rich. She is a beauty!

Mama quilla is the Incas "mother moon god" and etso I was looking for something to call him more Peruvian and I came across that name can't even find the meening of it now lol
The bcl I find need a couple degrees cooler and also if the humidity is too high they both have terrible sheds, if I mist when the in shed it comes off in a million pieces.
So if I always check before I mist them

How interesting! I would not have expected that the humidity being too HIGH could cause the sheds to go that poorly.

Re: Peruvian longtail boa Bcl
Oh, you! Quit leaving me with all this BCL envy! I'm not supposed to be looking for a new snake for another year! :P
In all seriousness, though, Adelita almost got a brother at the Hamburg show last weekend. There was a nice het anery Denton line x male BCL (dam was a Denton line hypermel anery, I forget what the sire was) there that was painful to leave behind. The only reason he didn't come home was the fact that Adelita's new enclosure wasn't ready for her and I didn't have housing on hand for a second snake. Hopefully my self-control holds out at the next expo in November...

I'm in good company.
I was just informed the "Head Shots" photos were in the R-R as well.
Your boas are certainly worthy of being featured.

I've actually had 3 or 4 last year. Of my different boas.
I think it's an honour to have it published.
I saw that about your head shot photo, definitely worth a magazine photo
What a great photo it was.

Re: Peruvian longtail boa Bcl
I've fetched my male Peruvian boa "etso" from my sons tonight to put in with my female longicauda, he's been roaming for the last month so I'm hopeful hell get the job done, he's so dark almost like an Img but pure 100% locality, hard to take decent photos when he's so glossy, he's got a crazy headspear https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f344618995.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...af44e02e42.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b36932dd75.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b2e6d558b7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...49541c002f.jpg

I'd say great photos but it would be near impossible to make that boa look like anything other than a supermodel. ;)

Re: Peruvian longtail boa Bcl
Etso's looking as handsome as ever! If I remember correctly, he and Mama Quilla are Stockl-line longicauda, yeah? I ask because there apparently is a longicauda IMG/hypermel gene out there, and Etso strikes me as something a little more than your typical dark longi.

Thanks, yes he is really dark but he's 100%pure locality from stockl, I'm stockl doesn't do anything else but locality boas,
Vin russo describes in his new book about the varience of this locality, they almost act like an Img, they change so much, he's nearly 4 so I doubt hell change much now.
I think I saw somewhere about about a hypermel line, there's already hold varience too,
Bcl or now Bil are really nice boas

Re: Peruvian longtail boa Bcl
Well little "Etso" seems to what its for and "Mama Quilla" seems to be letting him, for the last 4 days I've never not seen them locked, so fingers crossed she ovulates and we get some nice dark longicauda and some even nicer "Zero" longicauda
I only changed there bark. Last week and he's scented all over, as long as he gets the job done https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b5463ce38a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7f469d39eb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4b6283317d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9ade6fe5bd.jpg

May the RNG gods bless you with some zeros.

I'm not well versed at all in boa genetics. What are "zeros"?
