So you went through Mapleton on your way to Florence, I grew up in Mapleton right on the Siuslaw River and I moved back Here after 30 years in the Oregon desert. I live 8 miles up from Mapleton in a little town. Next time you come this way My Husband and I could meet you in Mapleton At the Alfa Bit cafe and have coffee or tea , It would be cool to meet you in person. When I post my flood pictures its The Mighty Siuslaw takes on Mapleton and of course up the River and to the Ocean. All the lumber mills are gone, that was the life Blood of the area. Every place you went on the coast is Beautiful. When I was a teenager my Brother and Cousins would launch the boat and water ski all the way to Florence and then back to Mapleton. I learned to swim in the River at age 8.

i remember that turn where the coffee house is! we actually stopped by the BBQ house on the other side and had some tasty pulled pork sandwiches. it's beautiful river country down there. i remember a trout farm and Christmas tree farm along the way too. not sure when i'll be back down there. i head into Portland every now and then tho. :)

this is from another beach, just south of that big light house (which is just beyond the trees/cliff on the right. i can't find any light house photos on my phone tho. :/
