Re: Another pitbull kills, this time a little girl
I had read it was an XL American Bully. A lot of people don't realize Ambullies aren't American Bulldogs so that may be where some confusion is coming in.

My bad you are right. He was an american bully.
I just looked them up though and give me an american bulldog any day. I really do not care for the conformation at all. Looks like an English bulldog with a pit head pasted on. Personal preference I guess.

American Bullies are all mutts trying to be a single breed. They come in so many variation. From this hulk to the little freaky gremlins.
My opinion, a lot of uneducated people breeding dogs that shouldn't be bred.
Some bullies look really nice and have good temperament, but the majority of what I've seen are genetic and physical train wrecks.
And since most of these breeders are aiming for a certain 'badass' look, they're disregarding the temperament and health factor of their animals.
Regardless if there was a female in heat or not, this dog was obviously unstable. No dog should act like that. I do Schutzhund with my dobermans and have been around a ton of intact high driven males and females in heat together. If you have a dog with a sound mind, is trained, and respects you, they're not going to go all nuts, attack, and try to kill you. And then obviously other reputable dog breeders keep both males and females in the same vicinity with no issue either....

I totally agree, the dog was clearly unbalanced. A female being around in heat just made things worse for a dog that was already unstable. Just fuel to the fire.

THAT is the kind of circumstances I expected. It wasn't "just" a "pit bull", ands it wasn't your every day pet, and it didn't attack for no reason or without expectation. Unaltered male with an unaltered female is asking for trouble if you don't know what you're doing and don't have appropriate housing for the animals in question, let alone training and socializing.

Yep,
which is why when this was first posted here, I knew from the second I read it, it was full of misinformation.
Another attempt to "stick it" to a breed as a whole (even though it's not that breed).
Keep in mind this will still be recorded as a pit bull attack. Nobody will care to change it. It just builds/adds more BS stats.
If you don't want your kid hit by a car, don't let them play in a busy street. If you don't want your kid or anybody else attacked by your, dog don't leave them alone in the same room. Obey ALL leash laws, use in home crates when needed, and take part in some type of basic OB training with your pet!
If you can't,,,,,, then don't get a dog.
My guess is there were no owner handling skills or any kind of decent training given to either of the 2 dogs.
Too bad for the innocent child!!!!!!

Yup. I've noticed whenever a story like this comes out and its later revealed the dog want actually a pit bull, the media just quietly covers it up and lets the story die without correcting the misinformed. They have to keep their ratings! That's apparently more important than actually reporting the truth.
