I'm sure Christina will share a photo, but if you are familiar with rosette guinea pigs, it's the same phenotype, just scaled-down on a mouse. While it's common in guinea pigs, it was only in the past couple of weeks that it was imported into the US.

Sadly - I'm not familiar with it. :(

Yes, I love the variety! :) The shininess of the coat is a separate gene (satin...which is pretty common already)...but I just love the cowlicks!

Oh wow! She's gorgeous ! Wish I lived in the states so I could have one of her future babies! Lol

Spooky, they are from the UK.
Thanks everyone! :)

There are people on Craigslist who advertise for riders to go with them on trips in exchange for gas and company.
I suspect that if you put an ad, casey, in that section stating that you have a mouse that needs to travel someone would be willing to provide transportation. If you don't have a good transport cage you can get one inexpensively.
You REALLY need to get things moving on this casey. The longer you wait the worse you look.

Re: Beware of Casey Lauren Byiers (Rhasputin/EVLV/Eccentric Evolution)
Since Casey was in NY and Stine PA I was thinking maybe I could help and be the middle man.......didn't realize till I looked it up that it was upstate NY. :( With that being said I happened to look up a BP breeder yesterday that had something I was interested in and advertised on KS. It turns out he is VERY close to Casey. Maybe someone has had dealings with him and he can hold the mouse for now? Of coarse he may want nothing to do with it but figured I would put the name out there if anyone knows Fred Kick.
Stina I hope everything works out for you and that mouse is really neat! It's like she has a mohawk but on the wrong end!

I'd give a HUGE no to Fred Kick....besides his questionable reputation, I've met him at a show and he donated a STICK to the USARK auction and laughed about it (I was collecting donations a the Myrtle Beach show - and he first said he didn't want to donate anything then went - here you can have this stick).

Thanks much for that info. After seeing that I'll make sure to stay far away from his posts. :gj:

I strenuously urge you to not involve Mr. Kick, or his brother in this situation...or any situation for that matter. I have found Mr. Kick and his brother to be highly questionable in both deeds and character.

She even has a section on one of her forums for mouse transport help that she could utilize, and so far isn't.

I know I am new here but I want to say a big "Thank you" to everyone for keeping this thread as civil as it has been so far, all things considered. I've been impressed with BP.net's user base and how open and above-the-table these things have been treated so far.
Kudos!

I've been keeping up with this thread silently so far, not really knowing anyone involved and anything helpful I've thought to say has been said already. This particular bit of advice is terrible given the progression of this thread. Have you read it all? OP had her rightful property stolen from her, and the thief has begun to attempt to return it as a result of the conversation on this forum as others. Even with that aside, it's apparently a very valuable mouse, one of only two in the country according to the OP, both of which rightfully belong to her. Monetary value aside, don't you think it would be awesome to be able to say "Nobody else in this country has this morph"? That was stolen from the OP along with the mouse, and risks vanishing if the doe has a litter that the OP doesn't find out about while in the custody of the thief.
Stealing is stealing, and the OP has the right to pursue the return of her property, no matter how miniscule the object or value might be, as long as she does so within the confines of the law. And she has.
-
I have no intention of saying I'm the only one who has it actually....I want to be able to share the gene with others...HOWEVER it would be MUCH harder for me to establish a stable line without the second doe. This gene actually HAS been in the US before...but all of those animals were lost as the breeder was unable to establish a strong enough breeding population and no other people were breeding them. I asked for 2 females and a male b/c that is what I comfortable establishing the gene with, without havng to outcross.
-
Re: Beware of Casey Lauren Byiers (Rhasputin/EVLV/Eccentric Evolution)
I didn't mean to imply that you meant to keep it that way, but the value of saying that you briefly had the only known ones, and could potentially be responsible for introducing it as a stable morph in the U.S. seems to have some value. I know I would be extremely proud of something like that.
-
I am proud to have them...casey will still have them though...she just is only supposed to have males. I just was trying to point out that this isn't about money or notariety, its about stopping dishonestly and theft.

I don't understand this kind of attitude. Apparently it was a huge deal to import these mice, the shipment was very much looked forward to, and you seem to be saying that Stina should give up and accept this unethical taking of her critter?
I think Stina has a lot of people behind her, and I think Casey's rep is taking a big hit as a result of her own actions.
I think standing up and fighting for the right thing is more positive than giving up, even if it take time and effort.

Re: Beware of Casey Lauren Byiers (Rhasputin/EVLV/Eccentric Evolution)
Has Ms. Byiers sent you the pictures of the mouse yet or turned it over to Elena? Like others here, I'm wondering if it's pregnant and/or close to going into labor.
-
I have heard nothing from casey since her replies yesterday on this thread.
Casey has not logged on since about 7 pm yesterday.

Yes...I'm beginning to wonder if the individual who suggested she was waiting for it to have a litter within the next week was correct. Especially since, once she realized she may not be able to keep it for the week like she wanted, she has gone silent again. Hmm...it's smelling awfully fishy if you ask me. :bleh:
If my reputation was on the line, I'd be on here and on the phone doing everything I could to resolve the problem as promptly as possible.

i agree but if the fight isnt going anyplace then your just wasting your time over a theif.i know if it was me i fight and be t-off but at what point do you sit back and accept that you were robbed and learn from it.figure by the time you take it to court she would of bred it over a hand full of times already.its like if you got robbed and know who did it.but this is a animal cops dont do anything but say take it to court.after court fees and lawyer fees you end up puting out lots of money and probily win but how many litters did she get.all i was saying is why go crazy if in the end you still get screwed.it sucks but it has to be a leason learned.trust no one and do deals in person not 3rd party or what ever.people scam everyday on anything.so thats why karma is there and will fix the problem over courts and cops and you save time and money.thats all i was trying to say.and for the record never had a attitude.just giving my opinon.sorry if people took it the wrong way.never meant any harm or disrespect.

Karma? Do you believe in the tooth fairy as well??? Karma won't fix this...the OP is going about this the right way IMO...bring it all out in the open, don't stop until it's settled appropriately, and let others be forewarned about doing business with this kid...

I do not, in my own life, trust karma to take of me, and I do not trust it to take care of Stina.
What was done by Casey is wrong. I believe she is currently compounding the disgusting action she took by planning to steal a litter.
Words are powerful. Community is powerful. If many of us talk loud enough, long enough, perhaps others will listen and Casey will not be able to sell the stolen litter or, anything else.
At this point, considering her silence and absence of effort to make this right, I think her rep is totally trashed, and she did that to herself.

if you read any of my replies you would of seen i said put it out there.wow.read,read.and karma is real.tooth fairy not so much.karma come in many shapes and forms so if you ever wonder why things went bad or good for you in certain points of your life then it was karma.just look back at the good and bad and what came after it.but then again what ever you belive in is what you belive in...as for the theif they will get whats coming to them in time."just keep leting everyone know who the person is and what they done like you have".take care...

Well. She did learn at least 2 things.
1)Ball Python owners are awesome. ;)
2) make sure to bring proof of purchase and a receipt if there ever was a group shipment in the future. Don't let there be a sign in check list as the only form of distribution....

Yikes...personally I believe I AM responsible for the things that happen in my life...not some magical force called Karma. The solution here is definitely not to sit around and wait for Karma to fix this problem. And it would be easier to read your posts if you would use commas, periods, capital letters, that thing called a space bar, etc...but anyway...back to the topic at hand...

One thing that can be done is to post links to here. I'd send a link to the out-of-country supplier and ask friends to post on every mouse board. That way, the next time Casey tries to buy mice, or any living animal, perhaps those who have read this account will not sell to her.
A pet mouse is no less valuable a creature than any pet, and joking about its death is disgusting.
