Do yourself a favor and download AVAST.

Back that up with Spybot Search and Destroy.

It's free, it works, and it won't give you tasteless sexual commentary like Dutchherp.

    Spybot should do the job.

That's why you never click on any popups or browse any that have popups. Fixing computers is easy and quick money. A lot of people should be glad because XP fixed for the most part the issue with some popups automatically installing crap on your computer.

If you want a free antivirus, go get AVG, or you can just do a weekly scan at security.symantec.com

They said that most of the viruses that they are seeing these days comes from Facebook apps. You know the ones - the quizzes, etc.

Download and run HijackThis. You will need to look close and remove any programs that are not legit. Then install ZoneAlarm Antivirus. ZoneAlarm works great but cost around $20 per year. You could also go with AVG Antivirus. It is one of the best free antiviruses out there, but not as good as ZoneAlarm.

Spybot is changing .. in the industry as more of a preventative tol than removal tool. Their resident protection is good ... and saves us around here (the company I work for as an IT tech) a lot of heaches, but we have run into a lot of stuff that Malwarebytes just destroys the first time that Spybot will not.
