I'm using the on board flash but am using a bigger aperture with a 1/13 + exposure comp. I'm getting some hoods and a remote release for it soon.

Let me know if you ever get a Speedlight, and I'll send you the link to the diffuser that I use (Celia recommendation). It is the best diffuser you can find, and a good one too.

Speedlight is a Nikon flash, so you should be able to google it. I use a SB-600. Celia uses the SB-800. I like the 600 just fine, and it is a bit cheaper. As for the diffuser, I don't have the exact link right this minute, but if you google "Gary Fong", you'll find it.
